The SARD FPR is not as flexible as the Cartech... which is like a FPR and FMU in one...

There are many here that have the SARD with a S/C... Frank and I for example.

If I'm not mistaken, the cartech is NOT an FPR, just a FMU. If you want both in one, you'd need a Vortech SFMU.

I have a sard, and it works just fine.

EJJ you right, people keep thinking the Cartech is an FPR when it is nothing but a glorified Vortech FMU with the ability to adjust discs without opening it, just by turning a ****.

With the Cartech you STILL need your OEM FPR. Like EJJ said, the only one that will do both is the Vortech SFMU.

They both are used to control fuel pressure, so technically they are both fuel pressure regulators. They do it in different ways and under different circumstances, though.

Yes, the Sard fpr replaces the oem fpr. It is used to control fuel pressure during nonboosted operation of the engine. The fmu takes over once boost pressure builds up.

I don't see how you're getting 75 psi at idle with the oem fpr. How do you have your fuel lines hooked up? They should go:

in tank fuel pump > fuel filter > aux fuel pump > fuel rail > fpr > Vortech fmu > return to tank

And make sure you have the lines to and from the fmu attached to the correct nipples.

You can't run both the oem fpr and aftermarket fpr. Use one or the other.

If you don't have the aux fuel pump, do you have a high flow Walbro in-tank pump?

Yes. Your aftermarket fpr should have come with a standoff kit that allows you to mount the fpr on the firewall or some convenient location. The standoff kit is just a piece that inserts into the fuel rail where the oem fpr is and has a hose barb on the other end. So your fuel line routing should be:

in-tank fuel pump > fuel filter > fuel rail > aftermarket fpr > Vortech fmu > fuel tank return

Again, be sure your fmu is hooked up correctly.

but do u think i need the walbro pump if i am not running the aux pump???
what if i run the stock pump with just the fmu|?? would it be too lean?

If the kit includes the aux fuel pump, then it's a safe bet the stock fuel pump is inadequate... Be safe and run either the aux fuel pump or get the hi-pressure version of the walbro.

The stock fuel pump is not enough, it maxes out at around 42-45psi which is not enough, thus why they include an aux pump. Best bet would be to install a walbro so you dont have to worry about the aux pump and wiring and all that crap.
