Turbo

I'm thinking of going FI, with a turbo. I'm going to be customizing the whole entire exhaust but keeping the stock exhaust manifolds. The only question I have is, what size turbo should I get? I was looking at a T3 because I pretty much have a stock engine and don't want too much boost, but I was debating if it's too small for a 3.0L. What do you guys think?

Are there any problems associated with running a T3? T78's and bigger are way too expensive for my taste...

What? Anyway, what about a T04? I'm doing everything custom so I don't want to spend a ton of money on a crazy turbo...

Maybe you should ask these questions in the turbo/ supercharged forum.

a t78 would take a while to hit full boost is what i was saying

i would go with a t3/t4oe

quick to spool, handles all the boost it will ever see on the max.

t04 would not spool as quickly and would have no gain over the t3/t4oe.

So T3/T4 hybrid? my original concern was that if the T3 turbine is too small for our engines....but I guess that the wastegate would slow the turbine down if it were to produce too much boost

hybrid will lose out slightly on the top end, a t4 will spool late but will have better top end, you looking for a drag car or a autox car?

should have bought the turbo kit i just sold...

Im just looking for something good on the streets, just to give me a little bump up in power once in a while. I generally don't push my car, but when I do I want the power to be there. I know Maxima's beat civics and such, but I also want to be able to KILL them and beat other fast V6's once in a while. Would running a straight T3 be good for this or should I stick with the hybrid?

you definitely dont want a straight t3. Way too small, you would not get enough flow from the compressor to support much boost. A t3/t4 with a .82 backside and a to4s compressor housing would be ideal. I think you would want a stage 3 turbine whell and a 60 trim compressor too. I just bought a garret GT3040R ball bearing turbo which fits the above specs. I never got to use it on my car, because i sold both the kit and the car. However i will be using it on my rb26dett... :-)

FP-30 from Forced Performance, the red and green series are also good from what I have heard.

I say get t4/t04E, thats what I got and loving it too. Lets put some logic and some common sense here. We are FWD cars correct?
why do you want some small stuff and lose traction early. I rather get rolling and lose it towards the end shift and grip and take off. If you look at my video with the SCer. I sat there and spun. Eric caught traction first then took off very hard. By the time I caught traction I would have never have caught him, his turbo had spooled up and he was gone.
