Haltech EMS E11 - Works for the RB. How about the VQ?
Haltech EMS E11 - Works for the RB. How about the VQ?
Here's the deal. I have the Max, a 92 240 RB, and a 99 Eclipse. I know the 240 and Eclipse can take input from a Haltech EMS (E11). I'm 99% sure I'm going to buy one. Can the Maxima accept the E11? The brochure says that all Nissans with an 'optical trigger'. I would assume so, as I've seen tham in VG30's, SR20's and RB's. HAs anyone tried it on the VQ30?
Anyone have any input? Any tips on tuning once I get it in? I'm boosting (Garrett GT3050), I have a Z32 MAF, 255lph walbro and 550cc's that are going in as well. I'm weighing a preprogrammed JWT ECU, vs this. Not cost-wise... benefit-wise. I'd love to tune on the fly. Would this be too much for a semi-novice tuner? I already have a computer in-dash and it wouldn't take much to add this to the system.

BUT I'm starting to wonder if it's because too cold plugs. I think I was runnin 8's. According to Jackie @ Carboy he said any plug colder than 7's on a stock ignition can shoot a spark up the coil? Anywho IF this is true. This may explain why at first the Haltech wasn't burning the coil then all of a sudden it started burning them. This is just my guess but I never figured out why the car ran fine for like the first test runs we did and never burned a coil.
I think when I went with colder plugs and running wasted spark it may have made the colder plugs shoot back. I hope this is not the case because I was sooo close to have it be a plug.
If you're willing to take the risk I'll tell you what I did to get all the ignition to work. I don't care anymore because I'm not going that route anymore. And I plan to start a 240 project. Doh I don't even have the base map anymore, I'll have to look.
