SC Concerns and ????'s

I have a 99 Max w 28k on the odometer. It's an automatic w/ traction control.

I'm thinking of going the SC route but I know 2 people that have lost their transmissions atleast 2X each. Should I shy away from doing it?

If I do I'll probably get one of the used ones on the org but how long will it last?
And if it goes bad: How do I get it serviced? What's my downtime? How much to refurbish (if applicable)? Will it last 100k miles?

i really depends on how you drive. It will blow someday, every car and every driver is different. Have a 5spd fund in for the future.

valvebody mod and tranny cooler is a must is you decide to stick with the AUTO

if you have no mods at all right now, you should try some smaller power mods first before throwing in a SC

service is through vortech, the ppl that make the blower.. downtime and price depends on them

And until you can answer most questions, you shouldn't buy a SC yet.

I'm on a smaller pulley with an auto transmission. Currently have 100+k miles on the engine/transmission, and it's equipped with a VB mod. I've had the blower on for about 10-12k miles. The blower itself is still in fairly good working condition, however I inquired as to how much a rebuild would cost. Assuming there's no damage found on my impeller & whatnot, new seals & bearings run $325. Rebuild w/new internals is somewhere around double that, but still pretty small when you consider the cost of the entire SC kit.

If you don't know enough to service it yourself, read up on it. You don't want to get a new V2 and have the belt snap on you every 10k miles, because you didn't know how to tighten it correctly. Tow trucks can be expensive

I've gone 3 years + 1 month with the SC on my '98 auto w/LSD. Tranny is still doing fine.
