If you up for it and ready, buy the PFI turbo kit. Its the only one that can be shipped and you can install it. There are no where near the problems as other people have in their kits.

Or you can custom build the kit and maybe save some cash. If you are not up for building it yourself, then get a local performance shop to give you a quote on it.

Ah man, how knowledgeable are you w/ turbos?

I would reccomend just buying the PFI kit as Dixit said if you dont know A LOT about the subject. There is A LOT to learn, but once you learn it - it's like riding a bike.

Be ready to spend around $5k though - some say it's not worth it, however.....I think it is.

Is your maxima a 5spd or automatic?

Well, dont take this personally. But before you jump into it, seriously do some reading and talking to other people who have a turbo modified car and get to understand the trials and tribulations they went through and be prepared to go through the same.

The worst thing you can do is buy a $5000 kit and start boosting and next day you realize you just blew the head gasket or shattered a piston.

You got to understand how it works, what the dangers are, and all that stuff so you boost safely and still have fun doing it. Ive seen TOO many people who buy it just to say "I got a turbo" and next time I talk to them, they dont even have the car anymore cause they blew the engine or the turbo.

In my opinion turbo's are more dangerous to a newbie than a s/c cause you can easily turn up the boost on the turbo with a touch of a buton or a turn of a dial and cause damage that easily as well. Where a s/c you cant unless you change the pulley. Not to say that the s/c isnt dangerous if you dont know what you are doing also. ANY form of boost can cause problems if you dont know the dangers of where it will hurt the engine.

Yea man - I've been hanging around and helping out some of the turbo guys here in Atlanta....and by doing that, asking a hella questions, installing shiat, and other random stuff.....I've learned SO much like in the past few weeks.

I can understand how bad you want to be boosted, and like Dixit said, it can be VERY dangerous if you dont know what you're doing.

I was re-thinking, I think the correct word would be COSTLY instead of Dangerous.

That would seriously suck to blow something the next day with the Turbo kit. Any time you add boost to your car, you're risking the same thing. The Stillen SC kit offers boost with slightly less risk (ie, no spiking, a larger customer base to ask questions, etc) for slightly less price. It's not as efficient, quick or cutting-edge as the turbos, but when you take a 190hp (crank) car to 300hp (wheels), you're essentially doubling the horsepower. Things are bound to break.

If you're unsure about it, get a used SC and pop it on. The experience with boost you get from it will prepare you for a turbo kit. Jumping into the turbo thing with no experience gets a vote from me.
