Just how loud is the V1?

Sup fellas,

I got a S/C question for those with the V1. Just how loud are they? I have heard some sound clips, watched plenty of vids but they never do justice to what a car really sounds like in person. I read a post the other day about it being so loud that people next to you roll the windows up. Another post i read talked about a someones S/C being so loud that people in a parking lot thought he had a bad belt squeeling but he said his belts were fine. Is that normal of the V1, or just ones in bad shape? I love a S/C sound but i dont want something thats gonna embarrass me.

We measured mine - 1/8th mile away it could audibly be heard.

That's about 3 city blocks. (Well, Seattle blocks)

I was probably the one that posted about people rolling their windows up. It happened all the time. Also got pulled over for it once. The cop was across an intersection and could hear it very well. He almost gave me a ticket for noise pollution, but luckily I talked my way out of it.

If I still had it on there, and if my car wasn't in the shop right now because of the jackazz that made a right in front of me, I'd do a clip for ya...but alas, I cannot.

SX7R has a video of this beige maxima w/a V1. The V1 has a nice whistling noise to it. I heard it on Mardigrasmax. SO nice to hear that SCer. People will stare at you at the light and be like WTF is that whistling noise

Yeah - like I said in another post - it's all about personal preference.

I myself found it annoying. Others love it.

Now I'm extremely curious. Does anyone have a sound clip with the V1? I have many with the V2. Don't know who is the maker of the videos, but it's in Dallas. The link was christurner.net/supra but I would like to hear what the V1 sounds like.

heres a link with a V1, Listen to the begining of the video you can clearly hear the V1 whistling on a 3.125 pulley

My V2 with CAI was just a bit more quiet. You can clearly hear both us coming down the street

I am in the hole big time but I may keep my 2k-2k1 blower. Thing sounds so nice.

thanks for all the replies fellas, i checked out that vid and it doesnt seem too loud at all. That sound actually seems addicting lol, but then again that was just a vid so i still wanna see one in person. Another question...does the V1 get noticeably louder with smaller pullies?

The V1 is pretty whiny, even at idle. I like the whoosh sound of the V2, judging by the videos it sounds like a turbo.

Jay 25, on your vids where you are racing the black mustang that kept letting up, were you in a TC or SC car? You also were racing a couple GS 430's as well in the video.

That vid was with a 3.125 pulley. When Mardigrasmax came to Atl he had a 2.62 pulley. I asked what happened to the whine? He replied it went away . It was not that loud anymore.

I was turboed in those videos. Some people dont like being pulled on so they let off almost immediately, while others will chase you around because they did not get enough. Turbo sounds way different then both V1, V2 SCers.
