Lowered Compression

Alright guys, I just rebuilt a VE30DE for boost. I pushed my compression from 10:1 to 8.2:1 now I am having trouble with idling problems. If you have any ideas how to fix this please drop me a line.

8.2:1 is a little low, but to fix your idling issue you should try a different plug gap first. Are you boosted now? What plugs are you running? What kind of ignition timing do you have?

No Engine Management as of yet. It is not needed yet. I am trying to get the engine in perfect running order by itself before boosting. Is there a certain way to determine gap for the plugs. I am using stock plugs. I have played with the timing a few times and still nothing much better....

Lower compression pistons and total seals rings so far. All internals are HU or forged. I have not upgraded fuel side, thats waiting with the turbo sitting in the shelf in my garage.

So whats the trim size on the turbo (assuming a T3/T4oe) and the a/r's? Also, how are you planning the exhaust routing to the turbo?

you need to put the blower on there and tune it from start like that. Your gonna end up doing and paying for twice the work bro.

Check the fuel at start, idle engine speed, and if thats all kewl start with about 5 degrees of timing. Really it should all be tuned as it will be in the end from the start.

I would think standalone engine management would be needed as the stock computer is applying values that apply to 10:1 cr
