MEVI/Turbo cant raise the rev limiter. Questions.

Once you hit the point of negative returns on the USIM, then go MEVI or use more drastic measures like porting/polishing.
Honestly, until you have a built motor, I *DOUBT* you'll need to worry about having a MEVI. If you already have a MEVI from your SC or NA days, then run it since you already have it. I'm just saying that if you don't already have a MEVI and you're only pushing 10-12psi with your T3/T4 or larger, you might as well just bump up the boost vs. spending MORE on a MEVI. Just my opinion though.

C'mon, its not like we all cant figure out that redmax isnt going pump up the boost. I mean , that much is obvious, but its just a matter of how soon. Its not gonna take long at all. All Redmax is trying to do is find out if a MEVI will give him some considerable gains with his setup, which it WILL!!. Who are you to say if it is a cost affordable upgrade for him. It will give him some excellent gains for him, especially when he gets his wastegate in working order. Anyways, a MEVI will kickass in that car with higher revs (which is where you need it).
Besides, a 4th gen needs as much help as it can get compared to us 3rd gens with a stock VI and VLSD. Mu Ha, Mu HA HA

can i ask the point of the unopened mevi?

Please re-read the above posts....you missed the point completely.

The question is how does the MEVI stack up against the USIM in a boosted (specifically turbo) context without the raised rev-limiter; which is the point of this whole thread and the core of IceY2K1's arguement
If he was able to raise the rev-limiter, the answer would be pretty simple IMO, but it's not.

I can tell you this much, Mardigras IS THE REASON everyone jumped on the MEVI bandwagon.
He may not have an un-opened MEVI vs USIM, but he does have one of the 1st dynos of a USIM vs MEVI.
Also, he was SC'd when he got the MEVI.

Hey bella, Julia, b-nothing..
If you want to ask a question, ask it. No need to make an a$$ outta yourself with what someone may or may not do.
And on the 3rd gen thing...
Okay, so are we all in agreement that a VI will provide siginifcant gains in a boosted application, even without the extended redline?
As to what is more cost effective in the short term, I would agree that turning up the boost because it's free. But if someone's going as far as to get lower compression pistons I think it's safe to say they're going all out. So from that perspective I'd say a MEVI is "worth it".
Also it looks like the VI provides much smoother hp/tq curves. Could this potentially be easier on the engine because there aren't so many surges, etc? Or would that be negligible when you're stuffing 15lbs of boost in there anyway?

And I'm not taking anything away from Mardi because he means more to this Maxima community than I ever will...

I Did not see that post

And don't take away anythign from yourself. While matt does 10000000 times more than I for the maxima community, it does not mean that I can't contribute.
And from reading some of your posts in here and gen. forum, sounds like you have common sense and the ability to free think. So while you may not have done what he has, it does not mean you can't do in the future...enough of my babbling...
BTW I am going to have a dyno of the USIM vs MEVI on a turbo car coming. Not because I want to ..lol.. it just worked out that way.
