Want to supercharge my 93

I have a '93 GXE into which I am going to swap a DOHC from a '93 SE. Once this is done, I want to add a supercharger. I have my eye on a Stillen model, but they list it as only compatible with '95 to '01. But the '95 SE has the same engine as a '93 SE. Does anyone know why the part is not listed as compatible with a third-gen Maxima? Perhaps due to engine compartent changes? Theoretically, I should be able to make it work with a little custom fabrication, right? Also, any suggestions on cams for this setup?

The 93' DOHC engine is still laid out just like the 93' SOHC...it had the same amount of ponies and 30 less ft lbs of tourque. Right ??

93 is a VE, and 95-99 is a VQ. Stillen does not make a supercharger for 3rd gens.

Why bother with converting to VE? If your gonna supercharge a 3rd gen, you have better luck supercharging the VG. Considering the VG has a supercharged version to start with (VG33E). Though there will probably have to be some pretty good modifications to get it to fit. It's doable.

First thing, you should swap in the '95 + VQ30 engine into your '93.

Other than that, your best bet is to get one of the electric superchargers from ebay. They're a really great deal and they flow 150cfm with the flick of a switch!

This thread hurts my head. A newbie wants to SC an engine swap, but doesn't even know the difference in engines. That's poor.

Yeah, but do you think the electric supercharger is compatible with the 93 flux capcitor? I mean, if your not careful, you'll have to replace your isolinear chips and you know the dealer will gouch you new one.

Seriously.......it all comes down to this: Do your research.

You know what, now that I think of it....we wanna go back further! So by the time the 4th gen comes...it'll be like fusion powered, and can like fold space, so you be at your destination before you can even think about it! Just think of the track times!

Right... I feel incredibly stupid. Which is not entirely unusual. I made the mistake of listening to an unreliable source [cough--Ray--cough] who PROMISED me that the block layout of the VE was identical to the VQ. I thought he was full of crap, but he SWORE he was right. Yes...
You see, I have been following (and worshiping) the Maxima for years, but only recently have I gotten into modifying them (since I inherited the car that introduced me to them). So my knowledge on Maxima tech specs prior to the VQ are very lacking. Which is sad. Because I don't have a VQ.
Maybe I should do a little research. Or get a VQ30. Or just bother people at my own site...Hey überchick!
And no, no blue bottle. That's the easy way out. Or as a finishing touch. Only dolts race on pure NoS. Though, at the moment, it seems that description fits me rather well.

Indeed, however I am not belittling the use of nitrous. I am belittling those people too incompetent to perform any real modifications on their car, so they stick a bottle on and think they've got a monster. Nitrous is great, but, like any other mod, it works much better accompanied by others. You misunderstood my statement.

By the way, has anyone else noticed the Cadillac Cien concept driving through one of the banners (autoaccessorystore.com). That's amusing on a Maxima page.

A couple Years ago, there was a guy with a 3rd Gen that was actualyl building a S\C for his. It involved machining a custom bracket as well as a bunch of other things. I heard nothing else about it, so I would have to say NAWZ is the way to go....

i remember a guy trying to built a supercharger out of a turbo, I think he figured out that the belt would not turn the turbo fast enough to make boost.

why not just buy a readily avalible forth gen

To build a monster 3rd gen:

1. Buy a 92-94 SE w/ a 5-speed (or auto and do a tranny swap)

2. Search the 3rd gen forum for maxima turbo + virginia beach

3. Call the shop in virginia beach that has made a turbo system for the VE engine.

4. Purchase it, and have them install and tune it for you, for ~$5000 or buy it and install it yourself.

5. Enjoy your monster 3rd gen.

Now that wasn't so hard, was it?

Indeed, I wouldn't trade my third gen for a fourth gen no matter how fast it was. A fifth gen, maybe...
