Wideband O2 or EGT

Wideband O2 or EGT
My APEXi EGT gauge broke. I am torn if I should get an new Greddy PHW gauge that will hook into my Profec E01 and data log for $205 or get a WB 02 set up for $310 frm PLX Devices http://www.plxdevices.com/onlinestore_domestic.htm . EGT will sort of show a lean condition and I really should have one with a turbo for heat build up. Wide band is just that AFR, it will log into the Profec E01 external input also.
Any thoughts?

Auuuugh...how did it break? By itself?
I ask because I helped a friend install the same and it's no longer working. Just wondering if you did something or it died by itself.

You can log with either a palm or laptop or watch the gauge.
If you just broke the EGT gauge you can also wire in the EGT sensor to the WBo2 and log the temps with it. I just run mine in parallel with the gauge so I can see both.
Mine was $390 with the readout etc but you can get it in different configurations.
BTW it uses the LSU 4 7057 wideband sensor available for $28 from VW. They are very durable but also inexpensive.

I agree with Jime, I got the same setup. Matt like I said on the phone, their DIY kit is about <$200. You can do full blown logging with your laptop. Map out A/F with RPM, and 3 thermocouple inputs as well as 3 other 0-5V inputs. But yes unfortunately it doesnt have an output where yo can feed it to your E-01.

Whats the better tuning tool?
I guess it would be better to get the WBO2 for now and tune the AFR a little leaner than the JWT is running using the EM, JWT has it at ~10.5:1 or lower according to the TTZ guys. When I start to crank up the boost over 13psi get an EGT to be sure?

Honestly, with the J&S, keep leaning it out until you get where you produce peak tq.
With the J&S, it will show detonation and pull timing right? I'd keep going leaner until you trigger the J&S and then back it off a little. How far you want to go is up to you.
Any plans to dyno with the VQ30 setup?

sorry to jack your thread matt.. I thought More fuel = more TQ and less fuel = more HP

To a point that's correct.
However, the way I understand it, you tune for peak torque throughout the RPM range. I could be wrong though.
