Insurance and a few other SC/Turbo related ?'s

Okay, I am very intresting in putting some type of FI set up in my car, enough to compliment any other bolt on additions that would allow me to 0-60 in about 5 secs. (2k 5spd) The 1/4 times dont matter much but if they went much lower as well thatd just be gravy. Anyway My ?'s are:

Would adding a FI system into the car knock my auto insurance rates up high? and if so, how much of an increase would i be looking at?

How much of a loss of Gas milage would i be looking at?

assuming SSR's turbo system is made, or a similar high quality setup is created, how much reliability would i be losing here?

and then, in the event of lets say a headon collision, whats the likelyhood of the system being damaged?

thanks

Man you newbies love asking the realiabity question. This gets asked without fail 2-5x a month. If you cant search just click through a few pages and you will see it.

Insurance wont go up, mine didnt, but technically you supposed to tell them about your mods because if its stolen they may not cover it.

Loss of gas mileage? I get 27mpg on my turbo setup, so no loss of mileage when we talking highway. Now city is different story since Im sure you gonna get on it here and there.

Realibility? If you take care of it and the car and dont drive like a madman, it will outlast you.

Head on collision, if you go turbo, your Intercooler for sure is gone along with some piping. Supercharged setup, probably also lose the charge pipe as well. Yes it can be brought back to life, just depends on how bad the collision is.

i just had a accident in nov last yr, it was a side impact. my s/c was totaled along with the piping. my ins co would not pay for the s/c and this is what the adjuster told me. we will pay for the s/c if we note it but
your ins will go up 1,000.00. but if i don't see it then your alright your rates wont go up. well he didn't see it so i will actually save some money over the next few yrs versus them fixing it i fixed it myself.

So its better to just work on fixing the parts yourself instead of letting insurance rape you on it?

word up. the adjustor said if he wrote it up it was over. it can also put you in high risk. i guess if you total the car its a different story make them pay for it but if not just better off fixing it yourself. it has also worked out for me with the right moves getting the parts cheap you may just break even.
