An update on my situation

As most of you guys know I blew out 3rd gear a few months ago. My work has been very busy and between it and the family Ive had zero time for the car and maxima.org. I have recently made some progress. I took the trans is and stripped the shafts of the gears and parts. All the parts for the trans, bearings, new 3rd, seals etc are here. I have some grinding discs on order so I can deburr and polish all the gear teeth, this should be done in a week or two. After that the gears get sent for cryo and shotpeening. I think I will have the trans back together and installed in a "built" form in less that two more months. I also have a set of Crower rods from SGP on the way. I ordered all my bearings for the crank and rods and will be taking the block to get bored for the new pistons real soon. Ive decided to go with a .58 AR turbine housing for the T4/60-1 for super fast spool up, the .81 AR is a dog. I just cant decide if I want to hold out and do the motor swap while the trans is out. I want to be very cautious and be sure the trans is golden before I put the built motor in, but half the work is already done for a motor swap. Hopefully I'll be race ready by the fall!

My new Saturn commuter car is soooo cool!!!

glad to hear there is some progress. we all know you are a super busy man with work and young children, and how you get anytime to work on the car baffles me! best of luck buddy.

Yeah, I was also thinking about where you have been lately and all. That's cool that you are getting everything worked out.

I'd say that if the car has sat for so long without being used, just slap the "built" tranny on when you get it and drive it for a little. (I get car-difficiency syndrome when it takes me longer than 2 weeks to get something fixed (engine replacement). And in the mean time while your car is working, take your time and PROPERLY build the new engine without having to be rushed to get your car back on the road.

Keep us updated as you go. Good luck with it Matt and in your case, God-Speed lol......

Just gears and shafts. bearings might be a good idea too, but I expect the trans will blow again before the bearings fail.
