pass emissions with aftermarket ecu ?

would i pass emisions tests with an aftermarket ecu such as JWT or TS ?? I thought i heard somewhere that u cant pass with that... taking out an ecu is quite a hassle i believe, not that i ever done it yet..

As long as there is no CEL for emission related parts going bad then it should pass.

Actually it really depends on where you live (I'm in california). I have the JWT ECU, I went in and failed the emissions test, not because my car was putting out too much on the tailpipe sniffer test, but my ECU wasn't giving enough 'rediness' codes. I went the JWT and they said they didn't understand why it wasn't passing but I was able to get them to lend me a stock ECU. I went back the next day with the stock ECU and passed, this may be a problem for more and more JWT customers as emission tests become tougher.

Thanx for the input, i wonder if it would pass in illinois =/
