Want to feel boost in my A32 E-spec Max
Hi there...
I want to get my maxima boosted, I have a 1995 E-spec maxima, and it has the MEVI wich I'v heard is pretty good to have when getting boosted.
I'v seen the PFI kit on www.turbokits.com and it looks like a good and clean kit to begin with, what troubles me is the following, my stock ECU won't be able to handle it I guess, so it's going to need help, proparbly E-manage of SAFC2. I have really no clue how to set this sort of thing up and it is holding me back from getting boosted. Can someone tell me how to tune it? Is it really that difficult to get it working right? Installing all the crap won't be the biggest problem for me, after all it's pretty much bolt on, but after then, what do I need to do to be able to start her up after the turbo is installed? Any settings to be done? Or will E-manage / SAFC register the boost itself and adjust AF ratio and timing by itself?
And uhm, is the PFI kit any good to begin with? IT's a lot of money and I don't want to blow up my engine by putting on a turbo and then blow the VQ to pieces because of a wrong A/F ratio or ignition timing.
Yes I have read the sticky's and I did look through all the posts I could find in this section, but couldn't find anything about tweaking the engine management to let the engine run like it should with boost.

The stock PFI kit will work okay to 8psi and I'd guess 230-250whp. The FMU will handle the fuel.
However, you can get a wideband 02 and using an AFC fine tune your fuel by dropping down the FMU size and dialing in just the right amount needed.
Depending on which turbo you get, several have done this and should be able to get you in the ballpark power level.

Kind of....
Just just tap into your stock fuel return line and the FMU has different discs you can swap to get different ratios, ie 12:1, 10:1, 8:1, 6:1.

Thanx for the link, now finaly I get what the FMU really is
Superb, tomorow I'll go and see how much shipping would be to the netherlands for the PFI kit! And soon, hopefully very soon I will surprise all the people when they hear the sound of a turboed VQ on the streets around here!

My wood grain kit is stock, however the shifter **** is aftermarket, it looked right compared to the stock wood grain and that's why I bought it. I realy would like a brushed aluminium kit, but the centerpiece in wich my radio / gps / cd unit sits is diferent from the US and there fore the US aluminium kits don't fit ![Frown](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Europe doesn't offer a alu kit for the max so I guess I have to get myself a US centerpiece before I can go alu...
Also the reverse indiglo gauges won't fit because my speedo goes up to 260 Kp/h and the indiglo's go up to only 240 kph, so if I installed them my read out won't be correct anymore
So I have to settle with chrome gaugerings and a aluminum gauge bezel...
