Has anyone tried secondary fuel injectors?
Not one or two aux. injectors, but drilled 6 holes in the upper intake manifold to mount these. This way you don't have to run fuel through out the intake stream. Have it's own fuel rail. Use some sort of cheap solution to control them. The last part is probably the hardest. Most require a standalone engine management to make them work.

I agree, it would not be a big savings if that is what you are trying to do.
The one huge benefit I see of doing it this way, is that you can use MAP to control them. So let your stock computer, MAF and injectors control normal driving and very low boost. Once the MAF maxes out, allow emanage+MAP to takeover fuel delivery with the subinjectors. This would make for an easy-to-get-running and easy-to-tune setup, and not require an upgraded MAF.
