Bad Track night

Well I had another really bad night tonight. My clutch slipped through 2nd and 3rd once the boost really kicked in. Rob at NRH transmissions told me last night it was slipping bad and I had already known that it slipped in 4th But i thought it was still track worthy. My first run I found out that it wasn't 17.5 run at 74 mph I couldn't get the car to move. Second run 15 second flat but in 3rd gear the clutch started slipping at 4k rpm's. So I guess either i got a bad Spec 3 clutch or i didn't break it in properly. Tomorrow Da-max is going to come by so we can punish the car some more to make sure the clutch is toast. The funny thing is normal driving its fine, but once i get on it its done.

I'm running 10lbs of boost and it is holding strong. I think i'm putting down about 320whp

What Clutches do you guys have? I really liked the Spec because of the soft pedal but I don't know whether I want to try another one or go to something different

Honestly, I don't know a heck of a lot about clutches, I've never owned an aftermarket one, but I'm going with a clutchnet. If it's good enough to go 11.9 in Matt's car, it's good enough for me. Also I have always heard good things about clutchnet.

Ok, well addae came and punished the car today and the clutch is fried. Basically what happens is it holds untill the car makes real power at about 3500 rpm's and then it goes all the way out to 7k and hits the rev limiter. After that it stays in the rev limiter for every gear

normal driving would be fine since there is not much load on the engine. once you get into boost yoru seeing another 100-150ftlbs of torque. there have been many bad stories abotu spec clutches. i had one in my 240 for almost a year (15kmi). i didnt break it in properly and it slipped bad for a while. i took it easy for a couple hundred miles and it got much better, would only slip it i tried to launch at the track. how long was your break in period? this is very crutial to organic clutches. now im using a clutchmasters stage 5 4 puck unpsrung, hold great and is jsut as streetable as my spec. retail on this clutch is only $310 shipped. i got it brand new but second hand for $240

yeah the first time I drove it after we got gas, I punched it hard from a 1st gear roll and it was clean up to the top of 4th no slipping and pulled hard, despite 2nd gear being basically useless on the crappy tires I tried some launches too, but I bogged like a pansy( hydraulic clutches..give me cable anyday ) but then magically we went for another run and blammo slipping like a ****...weird. none the less...the car has some POWAH. its definently gonna be good once this clutch is done! seems a little rich, but holds 10 pounds no prob! finally coming along nicely Corey

Man I thought I was the only one with all these Maxima problems.

I am N/A and my heavy duty ACT clutch designed to take 460+ lbs of torque is TORE UP (Literally, I couldn't even get the car in or out of gear)!

If I had a camera i would post the pics.

I really hope that the Spec clutch is not that bad in every case with boost, becuase I just installed the Spec stage 3 also and I'm boosting soon.

My spec clutch is warrantied so it looks like i will try another one. but i believe i will try the one that holds 650lbs of torque. We think it was actually a clutch defect.

Addae, I did call you. Will call again tomorrow. or call me at work
