burning plastic smell?

I took my boss out for a ride in my car yesterday (98 V2 supercharged), he wanted to see what my car would do. So I got on it pretty hard, I would roll out easy in first and really mash it in second and then go into third a little bit and let out around 90mph. Well the second time I did this I noticed that I had a burning plastic smell coming from the car...I pulled over but could not pinpoint the smell nor did I see any smoke. Does anyone know what this could be? I have metal pullies on my SC so its not that. I have a V2 with the 3.125 pulley. I just installed a straight pipe the day before I noticed this smell.

-Also I did not notice the smell any more when I just drove home like a sane person. Thanks for any help.

Well if you have metal pullies and your belt is not slipping... Do the same thing and see what happens. Maybe you been to easy on your max lately and you cleaned her out? So you have no more cat? Its prob going to smell alittle diff I wouldnt think.

could be and thats what I am hoping.....It did not have an oil smell, or a gas smell, or a smell of the clutch being burnt up....I am just wondering if this is a common smell (though I think it isnt), and where it is coming from.

funky as in buring plastic, or funky as in an over run brothel? I am going to the track this weekend and just want to make sure this is not a tell tale sign of something going bad. Thanks.

I wouldnt worry about too much. Obviously you changed something that is supposed to burn excess fumes so keep your nose open and give it a couple 2nd and 3rd gear pulls. Maybe your o2 sensors just didnt have any time to adjust, put a couple miles on it.

Check the underside of your A/C hose that runs over the top of the blower pulley. Your hood may be pressing down on that hose and the pulley may be cutting into it.
You can see that my hose is slightly deformed because of it.

good idea....I will check that^^^ I have often times wondered about that. I will check for a bag as well.....No comment on the crack comment, and I am hoping for times under 20sec and over 100mph.

-vortech, you should come to MIR this sunday...I am trying to get uncdood to roll as well

Yeah, I once had a plastic shopping bag blown underneath my car on a windy day while I was at an intersection. I found out that it melted onto my Y-pipe and made a stupid stink that lasted at least a week.
