Hey neal (or anybody for that matter).

How inefficient would this turbo be at 9psi??? What I mean is, when would 9psi we realized (rpm?) You mention that it could handle 30psi and is 74% efficient in the mid range? It seems like a big turbo that will need alot of load to get it spooled. Please feel free to correct me if im wrong. Im new to the maxima world.

this was a surprisingly quick spooling setup. I can remember 100% but i think that i was seeing about 9 psi at 3800-4000 rpm. Even at the 10psi i was running, on ****ty tires and open diff i could break traction on the thruway if i brake boosted! It is a tad big for the application, but not overly so, plus it leaves room to grow. I feel you will choke out a normal t3/t4 at about 18psi with the 3 liter. (unless you go to a gt series or something)

on_alert,

Thanks for the info. My concern is that I do not want to run over 10psi. Ideally I would like to keep the turbo near max efficiency at full boost. Anything over efficient would mean I could have chosen a smaller turbo and had better spool and anything not efficient enough would mean I am overboosting the turbo.

I see you have an 04 Sti. Right now im part of the subaru camp too: 99RS basic bolt ons.

Thanks again.

one more question.

What were the dimensions of your IC core? And who made it? To make it as bolt on as possible with the charge pipes I would like to know what size IC you were running.

as far as the turbo goes, i wouldnt worry about the size. If you dropped down to a t3/t4 you would gain maybe 200 rpm worth of spool. if you have your heart set on an exact size turbo, you could sell that t4/to4e for a t3/t4 and have some money left over. as far as IC size.... i cant remember. I used to have a cad drawing of it... but i think it was deleted. I think i supplied it to neal tho.

I know: 2.5 inlet/outlet, I/Os were on bottom.
I think: 2.5 x 8 x 24 core

The way the IC piping is designed leaves ALOT of play for intercooler sizing. As you know, silicone couplings aren't exactly rigid, so you could probably go up or down in IC size as much as 2-3 inches (width) and not have any issues. I just checked my old emails and PMs and I think the core on_alert was using was a 27x8 core (plus the endtanks which were probably 3" each), and inlets on the bottom (2.5" inlets).
