new sc problems

hi all after about 2 years on with the blower i finally shredded a belt.

well since i was already in there. i decided what the heck lets put the 2.87 pulley in.

i have a few concerns. i went back to the same person who did the original sc install. since the first install went without a hitch i fugured i was in good hands.

concern #1 my belt tensioner seems to look crocked but i cannot remember how straight it was before. right now the part you use to tighten is facing toward the passenger cabin at a slight angle. is this normal????

that brings me to concern #2 at about 6k rpm my belts start sqeaking. wtf????? so as im looking at the belt i notice that the belt tensioner looks weird.

now after about 4 days the 2.87 pulley was in i see what loks like premature wear on the sc belt. its seems like the belt is getting some minor fraying.
i will take pictures in a bit to post.

does anyone have anyideas???

from the top of the blower straight down a shot of the tensioner.

side of the belt the white lines looks like its begining to fray its a little fuzzy there

Frank, the angle of the tensioner adjustment nut is OK... you'll notice that it slides up and down a "rail" of sorts if you take the whole assembly out to look at it. Are you sure the tensioner pulley "bolt" is fully seated on the "rails"/slot?

Squeaking may be due to slippage of belt... keep in mind that a smaller pulley has less "mating" surface touching the belt, hence less grip.

With a 2.87" pulley you are in the detonation range... not good since you reported some pinging like sounds with your larger pulley before... and you don't have the J&S.

Having just installed a V2 kit this weekend, I can speak from fresh experience.

The V2 kit comes with a redesigned idler pulley bracket. The redesigned bracket does indeed tilt back toward the firewall, whereas the oem bracket does not. So what you are seeing is normal.

Belt squealing at 6 krpm may indicate a belt that is not quite tight enough to deliver power to the blower at that speed, so it slips and hence the noise. Did you see a leveling off or drop in boost pressure at the same time?

As far as the incipient fraying is concerned, keep track of it. If it gets worse then you may have an alignment problem.

woah frank ....I see the same ish happen to me...did u shave off the part of the bolt structure... I was gettin alot of belt shaving there... u got be careful...it gets critical here with a smaller pulley... just monitor the belt trust me...it can only get better from here...I know cuz I went through 2 belts already...one alignment problem and two... the belt got loose...tighten it really well. good luck bro
