stock auto hp limit?

What's the maximum amount of hp the stock auto tranny can hold? I want to get a turbo setup, or supercharger, but don't know how long i have to wait until i change my transmission. I've rebuilt it already, that was a nightmare, so I wanna make sure I don't kill my tranny if I go FI. What's the safest route for everyday driving(occasional drag racing), and what's the limit for our autos?

Thanks

it will last forever if you stay out of boost but as soon as you start drag racing it will die

I killed 3 tranny with VB modd and tranny cooler. All 3 trannies were brand new from Nissan (under warr). Most of the time it was 3rd or 4th that died.
Go 5 spedd or NRH auto tranny (that's what I did)

just remember the tranny does not like shifting gears...that is the main problem.

That is true, Jime uses well over 100+ shot and he only runs the DR mod.

How long your auto lasts directly correlates to your driving style - I drove my car like a bat out of hell when I was supercharged - and I wasted two autos. I gave up on rebuilding and just swapped to 5spd instead, which was the best decision i've made about the car. BTW, I had a tranny cooler and the stage III vb mod from maximum tuning, and before that, the vb from mobiletek.

can the auto last with any boost at all?

how much does a built one cost?

I just rebuilt mine, so how much would it cost to bulletproof it?

If the car is making 170 wheel power stock I would say the auto could stand oh say about .......... 169 whp. Just my 2 cent with out some work they just suck. And the manuls are bullet proof by far.

Ha. Unless you are speaking of non-4th gen manuals you are mistaken sir. Third is weak and the diff. bearings problems always seem to crop up in the earlier units. Now you wanna talk about bullet proof. The '01 AE is the most reliable OEM unit. Nothing is bullet proof if you treat it badly or run enough power through it.

I don't think anyone has proven them yet above 300hp in Maximas(except for that one guy I can't remember), but only because of OTHER problems un-related to the transmisison. but most of the transmissions Rob has done for some of the local GNs are well in the 500+ range. he's done a few local Supras too. I guess look to pawnstar now to prove it since he has Coreys old tranny

I will say that when Corey did have that transmission it was perfect when I drove the car!!
