Oil line restrictor
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with an oil restrictor to reduce the pressure. I'm not sure if our cars produce enough or the turbo would see enough oil pressure to blow a seal. Any thoughts? Thanks!
By the way, here is a link to what I'm talking about.

The correct feed line is -4 and the correct return line is -10 for the general area that 90% of our size turbos would use. Routing the return line to the oil pan so that it flows in there with no restrictions is the key to not loading up the turbo with oil. It won't hurt anything but it'll leak or smoke.

Check out the stickies on the SR forums! They have a lot of useful info about restrictors. Also, the VE motor does around 15psi at idle and 95psi at WOT! 95psi is higher than most motors. From my research, the VQ doesn't have that much pressure.

yeah I was wondering that too. I have been smoking since the day i put my turbo on. This is the 3rd turbo and it smokes just a little. Can someone explain more about this stuff?

After doing some research, it seems like a restrictor might not be necessary as long as a -3AN feed line is used. At least that was the general idea I got from the SR20 forums.
If there is too much oil pressure in the turbo, the oil will push by the seals causing it to leak/smoke. It doesn't hurt the turbo, since the seals are made to do this as a precautionary measure. When the oil pressure returns to a proper level, the seals will seal up again.
