Vortech hooked me up!

I got my rebuilt V1 back on friday, the day I was expecting. Wow on time. New impeller, bearings and seals. It is perfect. It makes full boost before redline which didn't happen before.

I got a new pulley with my package at no $charge!!( told Jamie to toss one in there) I expected to pay for it but...

No leaks from blower, runs smooth(loud as hell but crisp)

walked a mean sounding 5.0 with heads lastnight

I am happy with my vortech "experience".

How does a centrifugal supercharger make full boost before redline?

I think what he means is that it now hits the old chargers "full boost" psi sooner. Most likely it makes a new higher boost at redline.

but that could be from the belt being tighter also...just a thought.

What I meant was before I would only see full boost or Just barely touch 10psi right before I would shift. Now it seems to get there a little before or it seems to be at 10 alittle longer. Instead of just taping the line it kinda holds for a moment. Just something I noticed, nothing major. The way I worded it I could see how that sounds. Had a couple rock chips in my impeller early on for the first go around so maybe I had missed out on the full capabilities.

I still got a pulley for free!

Did you get the E trim or stay with the S trim?

Pulley is same size (3.12) I take it off and put it on myself so no the belt isn't any tighter than before, infact probably not as tight. No, I stuck with the s-trim because another $500 dollars for the e-trim isn't worth it to me right now. I didn't mean for this to sound so drastic or anything. Just seems like blower is a littel stronger than before which it should be I guess if it has just been rebuilt. I had 97k on it when I sent it in. Sorry for the mis communication there. Before it would strain to hit full boost now it seems to get there alot easier.....

Well I sent it off at the worst time. Right before thanksgiving. It was sent on 11/19 recieved on 11/29. I would have had it back before xmas but $ was alittle tight so I waited (couldn't be selfish). Called to pay on 1/14 and I put it on the next friday 1/21. I would say now is the time to send it in if any.
Total came to $480. plus $21 for shipping. It came the exact day I was told to expect it.

It sounded different at idle. My pulley for some reason kept coming lose. It was evaporating the metal key thing that slides onto the shaft. I had to put 2 new ones on in less than 2 months. It would still make boost but the power wasn't there. It felt really sluggish like it was taking more power to turn it. I could hear this weird knocking noise when it was first going. Could hear it only under the hood while reving the car?? The day I took it off I boosted one last time and swear I smelled something burning. I went about 5k with these symptoms getting worse. It became obvious something was giong wrong. The sound was noticable to me. To others its just loud anyway. good luck Paul.
imagine set of bearings and missing 1. when rotating the sound would be something to that effect. A ratcheting sound . maybe like a pressure cooker mixed in with the v1 sound.. I needed new impeller too. cost $153.
I got a free pulley!
