Turbo piping diameter

Hi all,

From what i read here, it is adviced to use a 3" exhaust if one runs a turbo on their car. The question i have it what diameter piping would be sufficient for y-pipe and the reverse pipe that carries exhaust gasses to a turbo? Thanks.

most use 2 or 2 1/4 from the manifolds and y those to one 2.5 pipe that feeds the turbo

Yep... Subs is right on there.... I used 2" Piping to Y into a flange that is 2.5" then continued up to the turbo with single 2.5. 3" Exhaust would be fine for everything after the turbo. Stock manifolds will work fine although I'd suggest takeing them off and porting the raw piping inside that the factory did and opening up the flanges there where they meet with the head.
