Question about how EGT's work and can be wired.

I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I'll ask it anyway. I recently bought a Zeitronix WBO2, and want to hook up the EGT gauge function of the unit. I also have an Autometer EGT gauge already in my car. I'd like to be able to run both the Autometer gauge and the Zeitronix unit from a single probe. The thing I'm not sure about, is if this is possible and how to wire it if so. I know the wiring for EGT gauges are usually special, so the material matches that of the thermocouple or something like that. I also believe that the signal generated by the thermo couple is a small voltage potential, which is measured by the gauge (gauge is basically a sensitive millivoltage meter). There is also something about the way they are hooked up and use cold junction compensation connections and the law of intermediate metals bla bla bla, and thought they measured the actual temperature at the point of connection with the thermocouple wires at the measuring instrument.

So if I can wire up both, how should I do it.

1.) Buy another special EGT wire and hook up two wires at the probe? Not sure if having two wires will throw off the readings since the other wire will act as a heat sink, and if so is it enough to really make a significant difference.

2.) Tap in where the wires meet the Autometer gauge with normal copper wire or special wire? I'm thinking the temperature of the wires in the cabin has to be pretty close to ambient of the vicinity. And again, how much error does this induce. Will piggy backing screw something up?

3.) Do I need to buy another probe (don't really want to do that if I don't have to)

BTW, I want both hooked up because the Zeitronix is used for data logging with a laptop, so I'd like to be able to keep the gauge hooked up so when the laptop is not in the car I can still monitor the EGT with the gauge.

Thanks for any insight.
