My SAFC is freaking out!

For some reason, it shows on the "display" mode that my Airflow is at 5% at idle and when I boost, it hits 0% above 4k RPM and stays there. (the more airflow, the closer to 0% it reads!)

Checking the Sensor Check Function, the MAF signal shows 1.2v at idle, rising steadily until redline to 5.0. <which is what I would expect it to do.>

So the readings are correct on the Sensor Check......but on display mode it's all f'ed up....WTF?

Is there a setting I'm missing? Car Type is set to 6 cyl, with the arrow facing up and to the right.

BTW: Car runs just fine.

sounds like the maf setting is incorrect. what maf are you using and what setting do you have it at?

stock maxima VQ maf should be setting 4 and if you're using the Z32 maf, setting 2.

I've been using it for 2 years and never had a problem until this morning - and I haven't changed any settings.

Maybe I did at some point accidentally hit something.

I'll go take a look.

Uh - It was set at 4 - and has been at 4 forever.

But setting it to 2 fixed it.

And I'm on the VQ MAF.

It just started doing this today.

I haven't worked on the ECU or MAF or anything else in weeks.

All my readings are 100% right on except for the display of the % of airflow.

And now that I set it to "2" - everything is fine.

The question is - why?

Dont you have the z32 maf program? Maybe the program and A32 maf together causing the problem.

No. I have the A32 Pogram and A32 MAf on my car.

the Z32 program runs like crap and I haven't been able to troubleshoot it yet this winter.

Right now I have:
JWT A32 SC Program
A32 MAF on Charged Side

Same setup I've had since about June of 2003.

The Z32 chip and Z32 MAF are sitting in my desk drawer.

In addition - I distincly remember looking at it along with maximase86 when we went for a drive last weekend. He verified with me it looked fine. 0 changes to anything on the car have been made since then....hell - I don't even think I've turned on the stereo!

The story gets stranger.

After work, I got back in my car - and for some reason I decided to try putting the setting back to 4.

It worked! I set it from 4 (not working) back to 2 (fixed instantly) back to 4 - and now it reads correctly at 4 again!

Weird....
When it was not working I even shut the car off and turned it back on to make the SAFC reset - and that didn't work.

So my next question is - could this be why my Z32 MAF program was idling horribly when the car was warming up? Will setting it to 2 with the Z32 program and MAF work fine?

We shall see this Saturday.

If anyone has experiences with the AFC + Z32 MAF set at 4, I'd love to hear their symptoms (if there were any).

Thanks!
