Going to be booosted with in a year... what clutch should I get??
I am going to be boosted with in a year but I do not want to have to replace the clutch again at that time. So I was wondering what some of you guys recommend.
I am thinking about either an ACT or Exedy in either stage 1 or 2. Preferably something with a full sprung disk instead of a puck style. In other words the most streetable performace option. And Definately NOT a stage 3.
I don't trust Spec at all as a friend and I installed a Spec stage 3 on his 96 and 8k latter the release bearing was some how mutilated into dog **** and his stillen flywheel got fucced up in the whole mess as well. Not to mention that stage 3 he had in there was way too much... grabby as hell and it was one jerky ride to say the least.

Clutchnet "Fiber-carbon". #10 on their website. Along with their stage 1 pressure plate. Love the clutch. After 1500 miles there is still a tad bit of chatter sometimes but I can avoid it if I drive properly. I don't really know if you can totally avoid any chatter with a clutch that will hold 400lbs of torque. The pedal feel is basically stock. I paid $450 shipped
well imo I would not go with a dual friction. Its seems to be slipping already. Broke it in for like 400 miles it did great for a week and seems to slip a little. cheap $hit
I am worried about ACT as I have read many stories on here of them eating the tranny alive.
Exedy worries me to some degree as I have heard that the clutch pedal feels mushy as **** with low feed back.
Mike's clutch from clutch.net fiber carbon #10 sounds like the way to go but I am worried bout this chatter...
Also, I will be driving on this clutch for up to year with no boost...

bullsh!t.
Where did you get yours?
what kind of boost are you going to be running turbo or blower
i agree on the chatter issue its pretty much unaviodable with a good clutch but should be minimal with practice
i dont see how the act clutches could be any harsher on tranys than any other sprung hub clutch with a high tq capacity
sure ive heard of them being blamed for it but quite honestly i feel that the ACT clutch got that bad rap because eveyone and there brother with a max seems to have one so if a few blow tranys ACT gets all the blame.
its kinda funny this came up because i have an ACT PP with a clutchnet disc and 3rd gear kinda disapeared earlier TODAY but i wasnt even raggin on it when it died kinda like when i lost 1st gear 2 trans ago i was just leaving work and it died but i bieleve that i weakened it from repetative abuce but id much rather loose 3rd than 1st
i dont know that i would trust an exedy stage 1 with lots of boost but maybe itd be fine

Thousands of Guys have these clutches without a problem..that was a defect..it happens with everything from cars to condoms...
Dont not buy a clutch because ONE or TWO guys clutch broke.
Ive had an Exedy Stage 1 for about 10,000 and love it. Ive been boosted for about 2,000 of those 10,000

Yeah I know, but I just want to make sure that I get this right the first time. There are so many options and different opinions/experiences from different people on just about every clutch.
Exedy Stage 1 sounds very appealing...
I just dont know...
