Good find. I have visited a similar type nissan ROM tuning site but can't remeber the name. Burning your own chips has been available for a while now. My brother burns his own chips for 240's. It is very cool to see how it all works, getting to see all the parameters that the ECU has. Changing the simple things like MAF sensor and injector size takes a matter of seconds. But actually tuning AF is much more tricky.

But I doubt any of this will work with a 4th gen maxima ECU. Maybe a 3rd gen. My brother took a look at a Maxima ECU and the stuff he has to ROM tune won't work. A custom daughter board is needed. Now, if someone were to take the daughter board out of a JWT ECU is could be copied and we could tune our own ECU's

Actually, I have recently made some connections (one with a seagate tech and one with a guy that owns a robotics factory in the Phillipines). They are helping me reverse engineer some of the SR and KA daughterboards and consult boards. They looked at the example I had and said it would be very easy to replicate and improve upon. I am sure I could get the same thing done with the JWT board... but somebody would have to be willing to send me a board to copy. There isn't enough of a market for me to justify the costs to do it myself.

That's how I feel. On top of that I don't own a maxima yet, so I'm in no hurry to find or make something work.

As far as I know, the processor used needs to have a jumper moved, then each data line on the edge connector needs to be connected to the data lines on an eprom. I believe the processor is the same or similiar to the KA's processor (not sure on that) so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I've asked a few times to borrow an ecu but no one is willing.

Well dave's little brother is getting a JWT ECU here soon. Should make it pretty easy to get one to him even if it's just this winter when mike won't really want to drive his car.
