kock senor pulling time way back

Ok well you all know I dyno at 239whp at 10psi with a A/f of 11.9. Witch sucked. Ok went to the track and had one gallon of 93 and 3 gallons of 116 and the knock levels did not change any. They still hit 230's. Witch is pulling the timing back.=killing power. My down pipe is on one side of the block and the knock senor is on the other side. (both on fire wall side). What can I check or do to get these levels down. to keep the timming from retarding so far?

Oh by the way My best pass was a 13.9 /102.9mph. with a 60 ft of 2.4

Good times! You would probably be able to hit mid 13's if you got a better launch. As for the knock sensor, I'm not sure how the VG's work, but I was having the same problems as you. I ended up just disconnecting the sensor for right now, I have never heard/noticed my engine knocking at all, so I assume the sensor was either going bad by coincidence after the turbo install, or it was getting a bad signal.

I do not know what your problem is but I find it odd that you are having knock issues with an 11.9:1 tune and running race fuel

Out of curiosity, have you tried a lower A/F ratio? 11.9 seems a little high for a turbo.

Im thinking the same thing.
Im thinking Im going to try to check it out.
I wonder how much is a new knock sensor. How is a good way to check and see if it is bad?

you ecu should throw a code for it. I know on my VG (87) I do not think I have a knock sensor....do the 3rd gen vgs(I guess you do if you are getting a knock reading)?

No It not throwing the knock code. we do have one though. Umm Im not sure if it is from heat soak some how too. becasue I can drive it hard when it is cold and I only get like maybe readings in the 50 to 100 max. Then get it warmed up and get into it bam 230 to 238 was the highest.

the next time you go to the dyno i'd unhook the knock sensor's wire and see if you gain any power back. hopefully you will gain some.

Would you need to put a resistor in place of it? I use a 470K ohm resistor, I'm not sure though if the VG KS is the same as the VE one.
