Problem with MAP/Barometric Sensor

I'm having a little trouble with passing emissions right now. I keep getting a CEL for MAP/Barometric, which is the boost sensor. The problem started a few months ago, every time I get near 0 on the boost gauge, I throw the code. It didn't do it before, and it didn't do it while I was supercharged. I reset it on the scanner, but I can't drive the car long enough for the ECU to show ready so I can pass emissions before the code comes back.

So question is, how do I test this sensor to see if it's still functioning? Or, do I just replace it?

Not yet, car is in the shop right now for the motor swap. When it gets out, I'll try the check valve. We put a multimeter on the sensor and the readings are fine from it, so I guess it just needs a check valve.

I've had mine off for like a month with no codes. I've been wondering why. Maybe you should just pull it to see if you get codes.

That's weird, the instant we pulled the plug on mine it threw a MAP code.

I think the '95s are less sensitive to emissons problems. We've found that running a '95 ECU makes for less or no emissons codes on newer 4th gens with gutted emissons equipment.

In your case I would try running a resistor instead of using the MAP sensor, it will render that sensor useless but MAP is only used for diagnositic purposes. Looking at the FSM it looks like a variable resistor would work great, you could tweak the resistance until the MAP reading is something close to stock.

That is great to here. I've been wondering for a while why I'm having no troubles. Sweet. Now I can finally throw all the junk in the trash unless somebody needs a 95 MAP/Baro(They don't say boost sensor like the 4.5 gens do.)

Actually - pm me with what all emissions eq't you have... if you're getting rid of it anyway - i'm interested.
