Intercooler Dimensions

I cant do a search yet because i dont have a checking card yet, i opened one yesterday so ill have it in a couple days and ill be able to donate . YAY!! But for now, those guys who are running intercoolers, what dimensions are you guys running? I need a front mount asap and need dimensions that could fit. I guess bigger is better so ill take the biggest one that can fit in there. And also whats a good company to go with for a fmic?

Do you mind cutting the bumper support up? Because if you want to avoid that, you can't use anything more than 6" tall, MAYBE 6.5" but that would be pushing it.

Best thing to do would be to take off your bumper, make a fake intercooler out of cardboard, and see if the bumper fits, rinse, repeat.

I'm running a 26.5"x8"x3" Spearco on my car. Neal is right, anything over 6" is going to require cutting the support. We had to take the Sawzall to mine. I'm looking into a 12" tall core for my next intercooler, and I'm probably going to fab a new support based off the stock one. I'm just not comfortable removing the support totally.

Shadow's 8" tall core for reference.

It's about 2½" up and 2" deep into the bumper support. His sits about flush with the lower edge of the bumper opening on a Sarona which is about the same as stock. I wouldn't sit it much lower b/c you start running into ground clearance issues.

Im currently looking for an intercooler and cant seem to find one thats 6" high and flows enough. What cfms are all your intercoolers and and how much psi/power do you have?

if you plan on running anything above 6" i recomend you find something that has the inlets and outlets near the bottom of the endtank instead of the center.

this is the one that I bought off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1

I just got it a few days ago, it seems pretty decent quality and its 6.25 not 6.
Do you guys actually mount the IC to the car or just held together by the IC pipes?

I would recommend that you mount it to the car somehow with brackets. I might actually go with an intercooler larger then 6" high, maybe 8-10" because I rather go bigger then too small.

3" is the max that will fit without doing some major cutting. I plan to keep the bumper support so I will have to trim it some to still fit.
