headers

i was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the headers used on a 99 maxima vs. the headers used on a 2000 maxima other than the possibility of it being a california emissions vehicle and having precats, and the o2 sensor location, will the headers for a 99 bolt up to a 2000?, im trying to get rid of my exhaust manifolds for two reasons, i dont want to have a catalytic converter before the turbo and i also have a wicked exhaust leak because of a broken bolt on the precat. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can swap on any 1995-2000 Fed emissions manifold to eliminate the front precat:

awesome cause i found some headers that say they only fit up to a 99 and i assumed that it was only because of the precats that you could not put then on a cali spec car so i asked the guy and he said they would not fit, but what does he know he just sells them, thanks alot for the info ill be able to save some serious cash now!

Don't forget they'll have an EGR bung you'll need to plug, since 2001s don't have the EGR tube going into the intake manifold.

Search for the header threads, I believe it's a common bolt, but not sure what headers you're talking about.

OBX just copies someone else, so probably HotShot headers.

Search for those that installed HS headers on 2001s, ie cali specs..

Everyone here should know by now that Stealin goes by a different set of rules. With them you're always going to be screwed.

Listen to SR...

OBX are scam artists. They buy someone elses product and then *ATTEMPT* to duplicate it, but they also try to undercut the price, so they use crappy materials, welds, collectors, parts, etc..

This is NOT a mod you want to spend a lot of time/money having installed only to be unhappy because of quality or *** with fitment and then have to have it uninstalled.

IMHO, if you can't afford to get Cattmans, get HotShots...if they make them still that is.

i wasnt trying to say that sr was wrong i realize that he has alot more knowledge on the subject than i do, i was just trying to poke some fun at stillen cause their prices are ridiculously high i tried to find headers from hotshot for the 3.0 and i could not find anything except some for the 3.5 if anyone knows where i could find some i would definitely be willing to pay extra to get some headers that arent going to fall apart.

No, you made a good point by bringing them up. Because no matter how much we spread the information there will always be those who refuse to find or pay attention to it.

HS only makes VQ35 headers, however they will fit/work on a VQ30 with or without slight modifications.

Search for SRs, BlackBirdVQs, chris'max, and others comments on installing them.

I personally would wait for the new Cattman Stainless headers. But I know not everyone will fork out for the best headers made.

so the only thing that you have to do to the hs headers is relocate the o2 bung or bend it out of the way?
