Pipe diameters (t/c)
Off the stock exhaust manifolds I used 2" on each pipe till they merged into a single 2.5" up-pipe to the turbo. I then used a 3" section for the down pipe tapering down to a 2.5" exhaust with a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler.
Intercooler piping is 2.5" untill just before the elbow to the throttlebody which increases to 3".
Before the MAF I used 3.5" inlet piping pulling cold air from the cowel panel where I welded in 3.5" piping.
Hope this helps, Scott~

3" I/C, charge, and down pipes seem like theyd fit easy - w/ the up pipe 2.5"
Ahhh, so many options :bangheadL:

Just go with 2.5" charge piping. It has been proven to work fine. 3" would probably be OK but I would not do it unless I knew of a Maxima who was running 3" and their results. And I don't know if it would exactly fit easily. The way my intercooler piping is routed, 3" would cause me fitment problems in 3 or 4 places.
You want the least restriction on the exhaust side as possible with a turbo, period. You need to evacuate the gasses from the turbine housing as fast as possible. If you could run no downpipe at all, that would be ideal but of course that's not really possible.

someone look up the dyno for ramius83's turbo setup. His dyno was amazing(around 400whp I believe), and he had 3 inch intercooler and intake piping, and a 3 inch exhaust.
Yea I remember Erik's dyno......him and Jay had the same kit - only difference I know of was 3" IC piping.
Compared to Jays dyno it was about +45whp and +25 wtq IIRC.....
But then again, Erik had major issues with his motor

When Erik made 400whp, his boost was spiking. It was a messed up looking dyno plot because the EBC (Apexi I believe) wasn't holding constant boost. It would spike, then it would drop, then spike again. His motor sounded like it was surging that day. So I'm pretty sure that he made his power on a couple of pounds more boost than Jay.
My piping setup is as follows, 1.75" off each bank to a 2.25" merge (modified Stillen Y-Pipe). The 2.25" is then expanded to a 2.5" pipe that feeds the turbo. The end of the 2.5" pipe was pressed into the T3 flange for a smooth merge. Out of the turbo, the downpipe is 2.5" into a 3" test pipe and full 3" mandrel bent exhaust.
The IC piping is 2.5" and then we expanded it to 3" at the MAF and then it is 3" into the TB.
We're about to start a new setup and I'm hoping to be able to fit a 4" downpipe in there. The Honda guys are showing amazing gains w/ 4" piping, and I've seen the Supra guys with huge gains going from 3" to 4" or 4" to 5". Plus, it's more of an experiment.
I'd like to run 3" IC piping because the new IC I want has 3" inlets, but I'm worried about clearances, the 2.5" piping is already cutting it close and touching in some areas.
