well starter was bad...kind of freekish how it just went when the only thing i changed was the belt

anywho...the clicking is still there. definately from inside the motor on the top center, not the timing chain area.

i think i am going to run some amsoil oil treatment through it and see if it makes any difference. if it does then i can at least narrow it to a certain area.

yeah i tried running an engine flush, changed the oil to 20w50...nothing.

looks like i have a valvetrain problem

car runs fine and strong, but the noise is really loud and annoying. i guess the fix is to yank it and put another in.

i guess once i get some time on my hands i will pick up another motor. at least they are right down the street and fairly cheap. just a lot of work that i really dont want to do at this point.

yeah i have run the car with teh stock belt on. pinpointed that the noise is coming from the dead top center of the motor in the valve cover, injector area.

also have a gearing/whirring type noise coming from the same area to complement the ticking. i noticed it while i had the stock belt on. couldnt hear it with teh blower spinning.

Paul, if you do replace the motor...give me a call, I can lend you a hand if you need it.

The very same thing happened to me and it was small peices of metal that had broken off of the pistons that where bouncing around in the cylinders. Mine happen from detonation.
It kinda sounded like ticking from the valve train, but that was not it it was a blown motor. Also I have pretty good compression, still.
My cure was a new motor.
