How much did you spend on your FI setup?

How much did you spend on your FI setup?

How much did you spend on your FI system?
Do you have a turbo or SC?
Did you buy a kit or make your own custom setep?
Was it worth the cost?

I'm debating on weather to invest in FI or just mess around with bolt-ons.

I refuse to add it all up. I'm afraid of what I'll find out.

The $$ question can be anwsered in two different ways. I spent around $4K-$4.5K to get all the parts I needed. But to include everything it took to get my turbo to where it is now, it is more like $6-6.5K. One could make the most detailed list imagineable of the parts and money needed to get FI up and running, but in the end there is always gonna be a few hundred dollars here and a few hundred dollars there that pop up. And this is doing 95% of the work myself.

You have to really enjoy tinkering with your car to put up with a boosted maxima. I have loved it so far, but I also have not ran into any devistating problems yet. Just read the threads in this forum, guys are always having problems. It just goes with the territory.

Shoot I don't even want to add it up, So much money

If I had to guess I say around $11k and still more to come, and that is not even counting what i have plan for next year. But it is all worth it in the end.

I have been thinking about donig a SC 5PSI. Honestly I would accually be happy with that for quite a while. I know you guys are laughing going 5PSI thats not even worth it, but thats all I want to throw at my MAX at this time.

I don't know for certain because I don't have the reciepts, but I'd guess there is about $10000 of work into this car, and easily another $3000 to get it running as I want it to run.

You can put on all the bolts on's you want but youll never get that feeling at 3500 of your breath being taken away while you boost through 3rd gear up to 7200 and shift into 4th...Nothing can explain it...its amazing...

I had nearly every bolt on before I went FI...as long as you like tinkering with the car every day and checking things practically every week, FI is for you...IF your engine bay doesnt see daylight for months on end, you just like driving your car and not worrying, FI may not be for you

I would say with the kit i have setup now ive probably got about 3000 into it. Ive only got a bit more to go untill i should theoretically be good for a while. I tryed to learn from other peoples mistakes on what to buy and what not to buy to try and elimated wasting money on something i will be upgradeing soon anyways. i would say before i have the turbo kit and everything involved "finished" ill have around 4000. (ya right... a custom turbo kit is never "Finished")

I am always messing around with my car. About 5-6 days out of the week I am in the garage for at least 3 hours just messing around with things on the car. Sometimes I find myself out there until 3,4AM. I need a new big project!

On a different subject, I have searched, but I can't find where the supercharger engine mounting bracket is being sold. I have read in some posts that stillen won't sell parts if you didn't buy their kit? Is making my own my only choice?
