So I went to the dyno tonite over at SVS, a Viper shop. It was after hours and with one of the owners, so it was low key and fun. Wierd runs though. The auto did not want to cooperate and kept downshifting if you punched it around 3500rpms in third gear. It seems like I'm consistently putting down around 265 whp, but I had a couple of runs that downshifted and says that I am at 284whp/309wtq.

I am currently running a Vortech V2 with a 3.33 seeing 7.2 psi, Custom AWAC, Z32 MAF, USIM, Deatchwerks 410cc injectors and a full 2.5 exhaust.

Air/Fuel was 11.8-12.0 throughout the runs. There was a lean condition when we were trying to keep it from dropping into 2nd at 3500-4000rpms. I leaned it out on the highway and it seems to feel better.

It was also nice that he let me do the last few runs by myself since I know my car better.

Oh yeah, we forgot to turn off the ac until the last three runs, one of which was the 284whp run.

If anyone wants to see the files so you can try and decipher what happened, please let me know, I will email them to you.

SVS's TT Viper is nasty as he11.

Those are some nice numbers for an Auto @ 7.2psi. I think Nightrider will still bust your tail with his 7psi auto tranny NA though

I saw its dyno run on tuesday. 1750hp. The dyno graph only registered to 1500hp and they had to extrapolate based on rpm and speed.

Nightrider 7psi NA???

Pretty good numbers there slimer.

Brian was at the track with some of the SVS guys when they went 175ish at Byron a few weeks ago. Said it was retarded. Phunk from my350z.com (charles) used to own CJMotorsports but closed the shop and sold his dyno to SVS and now works for them and brian is pretty good friends with him. That would have been badass to see.

What they did was use the gearing (known RPM) and the Tq (they didn't peg the torque) and that's all you need to figure out how much HP its making even though the dyno couldn't read that high.

Nightrider was a riot. What ever happened to that toolbag?

I think the numbers were a fluke though. Most of the runs were like 264-268whp which is closer to what they should be.

Charles wasn't there that nite, but he ran Mike's on Tues. You couldn't really see the torque on the viper either. I guess last weekend they were at Byron and it just burned out for 1/8 of a mile and went 8.7 at 18x.

Charles still does make his parts. I drove past the old shop three times in the last couple of days and it still has his sign on the door. I don't know if they haven't taken it off or what. Mike, him and I were talking about how nice his parts were and how it would be nice to have at least some of his fuel system components for our cars. I guess you would have to use a 5th gen fuel rail though for the top feed injectors.

Someone needs to try that out.

I meant the 265hp. I've got no doubt the 285 was a fluke. When an auto trans downshifts on the dyno there is a HP and TQ spike I've seen it on tons of dynos.

slimer do you mean you saw the SVS viper on the dyno in person? Or you saw the dyno sheet? Because in the video I saw (may be a different dyno run than you saw) you can clearly see the torque at all RPM. So all I did was use the torque and the engine speed to calculate RPM.

I saw it on the computer. Not the actual run. Sorry for the confusion.

This was stage 1. [underpants gnomes]Stage 3: Profit![/gnomes]

Seriously though, the only thing that is holding me up now is Matty's fabricator. I didn't feel comfortable swapping in the 14lb pulley until it was fully tuned with injectors and a MAF that could handle it. I only see a max of 65% of AirFlow out of the Z32 MAF and fuel pressure goes up to maybe 52 psi with the 4:1 disc. The only thing that I'm thinking changing is to drop fuel pressure to 30 psi base pressure so I won't have to make as much correction with the safc.

How is your install coming? Did you get my comment about the MAF placement?

the 285/309 number is not a valid number. The 265hp is the real number, and the torque on that is surely much lower, though he didn't list it. How about it steve?

The "regular" numbers (the runs that didn't downshift) were 263whp/251wtq.

I really should have done a 2nd gear run.
