iac hose on the charge pipe ???

so ive been stressing about my boost leak prob for a bit. it seems when ever i try to boost above 7 pounds it drops off in the last 1k rpms. i blamed the delta gate and got a tial, no joy. i shortened the boost controller hose. still no joy. so i do the I30tmikeD leak test on the turbo pipes and it instantly lost all the pressure. and it dawned on me, i have the big fat black hose from the throttle body (iac) and a small vaccume hose on the charge pipe! WTF! i never noticed it? and all the 3 dyno shops that ive been to in the last 2 years never noticed it? so i call good old corey (redmax) and he tells me thats all f@cked up. those two hoses need to be on the non-charged side. so my boy and i break out the plasma cutter and the mig and get to work. one hour later its all redone. i start her up and the car idles fine but the intake is loud as hell. so i squeezed the big fat iac hose and the sound goes away but the car stumbles (of course...iac duh). i take her for a spin and she holds 100 times better. it drops maybe .3 psi @ 6300 rpm but its better than 2.5 psi. so f@ck HSR in chula vista, san diego they dont know their ****.

BUT SHOULD THE INTAKE BE THAT LOUD? IT SOUNDS LIKE A REALLY BAD VACUME LEAK, BUT IT IDLES GREAT.

*foot notes*:
2.5 psi boost leak
there should be no lines on charge pipe(except for boost controller)
shop messed up
we fix
it holds
but intake is very loud
drank 3 sparks

i think the noise is so loud because the iac hose is close to my cone filter. the only way fix that is to add more pipe and put the cone in the fender well

I was thinking MaxinProgress had one on his but he just installed everything a couple weeks ago and was going to change it due to suggestions anyway. All this is good to know and may be an oversight, but it makes sense. I think a real knowledgeable shop should have caught it.

My IACV hose connects to my charged piping.

Are you using a boost controller? If so, did you change any of the settings?

I don't loose boost with my boost controller off and running off just the WG spring

Dave arent you using a profec b, we had our buddys wrx on sms's dyno and that boost controller proved to be the same absolute piece of garbage ive always heard it was. Just an idea, try switching to a TXS manual boost controller. Ive got one if you need it.

There's no way the IAC hose coming off the pressurized side should cause a boost leak. Like was said earlier, the hose just routes air past the throttle body back into the manifold. Maybe the hose itself was leaking and when you replaced it you fixed the problem.
