Crankshaft Limits?

anybody have any idea how much the stock crankshaft can handle? I didn't find it on the turbocharging FAQ.

You need to change pistons and rods depending on how much boost you are gonna run.

ok, my plan is to change the cams, pistons, rods, get some arp head studs & rod bolts, headers & full 3" exhaust, walbro, deatschwerks injectors, fuel regulator n upgrade the fuel rail. If i need a new crankshaft, then eh, whatever, **** happens. I dont' think this is complete list. but you know, hey, post up.

1. Your going to put in more money into your car than your car is worth.
2. Dunno if you have looked around, but the after market for a nissan maxima is not what you would call plentiful.
3. If you happen to pull it off more power to you.

Performance Motorsports used the stock crankshaft in their VQ35 until about 1200-1300hp...

I don't know how it and the VQ30 crankshaft compare strength-wise, but suffice to say you will never, ever, break your crankshaft in your maxima.

Personally, having more $$ in my car than it's worth, I salute you! Spend away if you love your car. I've estimated that I have put somewhere between $25 and $30K in my car and I'm not done. Still have to finish my turbo project and get some minor paint/body work done. When all is said and done, I'll have over $30k in my car. Paid $6,400 eight years ago. I don't regret a penny of it!

you're absolutely right, the aftermarket for a maxima is no where near what it is for a 1 point slow civic, but customization's what it's about, i'm not going to hks and greddy, a lot of fabrication will go into it. I'm willing to see this through because i've always thought the maxima platform is a good one to work on, but the "investment" into any car is ALWAYS going to SUCK
