3" Exhaust is IN !

Well let me first start off as saying that I was really spoiled for the past 2 years with this quiet OBX on the car. I got my 3" put on today and it really sounds good...

Heres what I bought to peice it together:
Warpspeed 3" Y-pipe
Test pipe
24" Perferated Core resonator
(2) 90 degree bends
(2) 45 Degree bends
(1) U bend 6" radius
Dyno Max Super Turbo Muffler
3 1/2 Tip from Summit Racing

All in all, Im very happy with the exhaust..I opened it up a few times on my way home and its like i cant even hold onto the car. It really takes your breath away..

I would say the HP gain was alot...it feels like the motor is really breathing now...

***I had the pyrameter welded in and the Wideband was welded RIGHT behind the Pyrameter...Is that going to screw up the AFR readings Im going to get sicne its blocking the o2 sensor ever sooo slightly..I dont think I need to worry about it***

Those rear pipes looked like plain steel... I would coat them (and the rest of the exhaust) if i where you, Rustoleom flat black high temp works awsome, and holds up really nice. I use it on all my exhaust jobs... Otherewise Looks Great, and i love your setup...

I hope that O2 sensor is wired up and working, otherwise, use the plug on the bung until you get it working.

NO I have the plug in there for now till I get around to wireing it. you think that Little Pyrometer Stick will effect the WB readings ??

Should I even bother paiting the exhaust ?? Ill have to jack up the car and do it in my driveway

Im not a fan of the warpspeed system due to there cheap style resonators they use. I peiced a kit togther because I wanted a quality resonator and a good muffler and tip

If it just bare steel and not aluminized, and you live in an area that is at all humid or ever drive it in any weather,.... yes i would paint it. Cause it will rust very fast... Its pretty easy to do, just clean it with some windex or somthing and spray away. Since its under the car, as long as you dont have any other bling things under there, overspray is not really an issue.

Well it looks good, that's for sure. I'd touchup the bumper cutout, though.

Do we get a sound clip?

No, No sound clip..I dont know how to do that.lol

The bumper cut out doesnt look half as bad as that picture when the flash is hitting it...I looked at the pic after I took it and had no idea those were even there...

Now the question is to paint or not to paint...

Very nice, that is exactly what I was planning to do for my exhaust after a 3" downpipe on my future turbo setup. Did you use the (2) 45deg and U bend for the part that goes over the rear beam?

I have (3) 2.5" U bends right now which I was planning to use to make a catback for now and also get some practice welding so when I do my 3", it will come out nice.

It all depends on how good you are..He used both 45 degree bends I got to get over the rear beam and part of the U bend to finish it off to the muffler and the top of the bend.

If I were you, I would buy two 90 degree bends for the front of the exhaust after the resonator. Those two 90's fit really well

Good. lol Thought you had the sensor in without being operational. The probe "shouldn't" affect the reading but you might want to check with Klaus (S/N is klatinn) over here: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/forums/index.php

How much did you end up spending for the cat back, not including the Y-pipe or test pipe.

The bends were somewhere around $120 for the 90's and the 45's from Summit and the U bend was like $40 from Stahl Headers....The Muffler was $120...Resonator was I think $85 from the Muffler Shop and the Tip was $35 from Summit..

$400 before installation...You could probably get away with not getting the U-bend but for argument sake and the Welders sake, get it...

Sounds really good..nice deep tone, not ricey at all..it sounds better than I thought it would be, especially being 3" and all... It actually sounds like the car has B*LLS now. Im soo used to having the OBX on the car for so long that I actually think its kind of loud, but I think i jsut have to get used to it. The OBX cat-back sounds so close to stock its rediculous

Holy crap...what resonator? I paid $30 shipped for a Thrush brand one from Summit and it's very good sounding. $85 seems a little excessive to me. I'm very anti-ricey exhaust, too, and this resonator sounds great. Of course I have a 2002 Max muffler, too...

I put the resonator after the Test pipe, before the first 90 degree bend. It pretty much filled that entire section.

No. I still have my stock headers on. I almost bought the Shorty Headers from the .org used before I put the exhaust on but found out they really arent restrictive on the 96-98. 99's would really see a gain.

below 3500, car still feel almost stock? is there a reason for this? mine (auto 10psi) and my friends (5spd, 7psi), feel dead before 3500....we thought we needed headers....did the 3inch exhaust help this? he has 99, i have a 98 though

It will feel "STOCK" before 3500 because your really not putting any boost into your motor yet...Adding anything larger to your exhasut, ie. 3", headers, will make your low end feel even worse. I feel boost kick in at about 3100 rpms with a 3.125 pulley...

Looks great! I need to get one of those resonators! I'm running str8 3" pipe with a maganflow muffler and a test pipe and that thing has a serious drone to it. I'll have one put on when I have the down pipe rerouted.

Im supercharged...I have it right next to the WB bung right after the flex section of the Y-pipe. Its good to know the temp right at the wideband
