Clutch Talk !!

Lets talk Clutchs boys.

www.Clutchnet.com

Clutchnet of course. I am doing a motor swap, shhhh be really quiet, in a few months. Im gathering all the parts I am going to need. I will be getting a new clutch. Now what one do I get

Ive been reading alot of old post about the Clutchnet 6 puck sprung hub disk which is probably what I am going to be going with but Im kinda confused about the PP options on the Clutchnet. There is the Yellow (Street performance + Race) and then the Red (Race Application)

When you search Clutch kit configurations, and click on stage 3, the 6 Puck Sprung Hub comes up but it sais to match it with the Yellow PP. The Red PP Doesnt really show its head till Stage 6 but alot of guys on here are running them. I think they changed their configurations and the 6 puck Sprung Hub matches to the Yellow PP but there site sais not to mismatch. Could it be that there Red PP turned to the Yellow furing the switch ????

What do I get ??

Yea Ive decided Im getting the Sprung Hub 6 Puck, Im just undecided on what PP im going to get. Red or Yellow.

Im starting to wonder if I even really need the 6 puck clutch or should I just get the regular disk type. I really dont want a Chatting Clutch AT ALL !!! My ACT used to chatter soo bad !! Thats why I went to the Exedy Stage 1

The clutch chatter with the CN 6puck is dependent upon how you drive. I naturally keep the revs very low when starting out from a dead stop, I usually don't go over 1200 or 1500rpm when starting from a dead stop. Doing this makes it chatter. If I keep the revs up closer to 2000 it doesn't chatter. Same with Mike's.

So in order to get NO chatter out of the 6 button Sprung Hub Disk, youll need to rev it to 2000rpms from a dead stop ??? I usually start pretty low with my Exedy (1200-1500)

Whats weird is that I am SCed again and I do not get no kind of clutch chatter with that 6 puck clutch at all I have heard it chatter on other vehicles just by driving normal. I do not get that chatter at all. I ve never got chatter on none of my clutch installs either. I am very picky about not touching the surface with dirty hands. I stop everything I am doing and wash my hands clean. Wear rubber gloves when installing new/resurfaced flywheel and clutch.

The 6 puck clutchnet is very very soft IMO. Much softer then the ACT stage one.

Get the stronger of the two pressure plates and a stock style disc.

paid more attention to my revs on start up, and I can start out with the most minimal revs possible and still don't get chatter

I launch around 1200-1300RPM.

The first 2k miles with the clutchnet I got chatter.
Now I never get any.

In the cold I get a groaning sound form the clutch after first starting it up and reversing out of my garage...
Other than that, no sounds, skips, chatters, squeals, jitteryness, etc, etc.....
Pedal is nice and firm but not giving me a workout.

I have a Red PP but I don't know if that matters since I bought it well over a year ago.

Yea Im going to give clutchnet a call tomorrow and find out what PP I need with the 6 puck. If you go their website it sais to use the yellow PP with the 6 puck but the Red comes in two different stages 2X or 3X.
