At least two problems.

MSD connects to coil neg and coil pos. Coil neg is inaccessible on Nissan coils.

MSD makes spark on rising edge of the trigger. Nissan coils spark on falling edge of the ECU ignition signal.

I have a 6AL for my VG. I've hooked it up but never installed it due to not having the "tach adapter", which is supposed to make them work in a no fire situation which is caused basically due to a voltage drop from the signal being used on multiple sources or something to that affect... (sorry, I know that probably sounded very confusing so read below to clear it up)

Basically, the MSD 6AL made an immense difference in the power of the spark when spinning the distributor by hand. I'm sure it'll have no problems making a big difference on the low end.

You do need the tach adapter to make it work though. I have everything needed but haven't actually ran it yet... yes, I'm that lazy. Had it for 3 years and haven't installed it.

Not sure what setup you'd need for the coil pack setup though. I would think that setup (individual coil packs) would be more than enough though. The VG uses the good ol' dizzy setup so has some room for upgrade (not that its terribly bad or anything though.)

Curious: are you talking about VE engines? Even the coils on the Ve have a +/- , so how is neg unaccessable?

On the VG, Both are accessable. I used to run a Jacob's ICE Pack. I went through two of their "ecu's" before dumping the system. I subsequently went to using only the upgraded coil, which is plugged into old coil wiring +/- signal.
