for guys thinking about intercooling there SC

Well i found out today that in order to run the pipe like stephen and slamdmax, you have to cut into the frame. I just wasn't comftorable notching out a huge piece of my frame just for the intercooler pipe. I will post pics maybe tommorw of how i am running it in order to give an idea to you guys of how you can run this setup and retain full bumper support and maximize a smooth air flow path.

PS intercooler was bolted up today and we installed the first half of the pipe and i am pumped. It looks f'ing hawt

Nope all we have left is to put the pasenger side axle on, install the belt adjuster bracket, route the belt, put the battery in, and finish the intercooler pipe.

Nice, I need mine installed, so a pic would help my welding guy get an idea of what I want done. Your wiper fluid reservoir is gone right?

Not sure the exact differences, similarities between our gens, but would your piping route be useful to our gen as far as keeping our fogs.Less piping and shorter bends + fogs and support is a big welding challenge I would think.

well tj i can tell you that i am probably going to have to loose my fogs, but i like the look of the pipes peeking through the fog light holes.

The only downside to the route we have done is that you still use that nasty stock 90 degree bend right off the blower. Right now one section isn't optimized since i don't have the necessary pipe and couplers(need a 2.75 coupler and 2ft section of pipe). For now i used a section i cutt off my stillen inlet pipe to go from the blower to the 90 degree 3" pipe. This is just temporary since i just want to get the car on the road. The main thing here is that i am able to keep everything structually intact and still have a short run to the intercooler.

intakehoses.com for every coupler and pipe I could think of, pretty cheap. Overnight it if you can't wait. And I see what you mean. That would look very aggresive, I agree. But I ride around with just my fog lights on most of the time so i'd be pretty screwed there . Well, either way, you gonna have him run the TB piping to the IC down between the engine and battery, or "place racing intake style" down the fender and into the IC? I bought an intake off ebay so the TB to IC piping would be fairly easy there, but I saw tons of space for the piping there between the battery and engine bay so i'm thinking of having that custom as well. Don't know how to approach this damn thing, lol.

we are going to do just the place racing style.

You're using the stock chamfered 90^ elbow??? Why? I can understand needing a 90^ elbow, but why not a smooth, radial elbow instead of the stock beveled one? Anyway, looking forward to the pics.

I know i think after i get everything situated i am going to go back and trim a little more sheel metal to see if i can get a 2.75 45 degree coupler to work. The other thing that is causing fittment issues is the fact that i am running the 5.5 gen HID's which take up more space

Yeah, my cefiros took up a lot of space. I originally had to reclock the blower a little because the piping was rubbing against the harness.

While this is on the topic. Where are you guys getting your intercoolers? Im looking to do this by the end of the summer, run about 11 or 12 psi, emanage, and injectors and get her running some decent power. I was just wondering a good place to find them for a decent price....im kinda afraid of ebay, but if anyone has had goodluck maybe i could consider it.

Why not? Just do your homework on which one to get. I may just sell mine. If I don't get a damn welder to help me out, mine will be for sale.

i know that you probably still dont want to route the piping from the blower like Stephen and I did, but its definately a good way to lose one of the 90 degree bends and also run a little bit shorter piping; all we did was clock the blower and went straight down to the intercooler..heres a picture of my setup

and with the front bumper off and the intercooler in place

I'm planning on fitting a SMIC under the battery tray (where the oem plastic intake resonator box used to be). This way there should be no loss of bumper integrity and no loss of fogs either. It will be small but in my eyes it's better than nothing at all.

I kept my fogs...well actually put in Xenon projectors instead that were a little bigger.

I wanted to keep the stealth look.

So has anyone accurately measured the boost loss across these air to airs? I'm trying to compare it ot my water to air. I lost just about 2PSI. And anyone have an accurate temp. reduction across the cooler?

i think stephenmax said he lost about 1.5psi and had a temp reduction of about 50 degrees
