Keep them and build a raw @ss VQ. Then put it into a FR chassis. S13 or S14 sounds like a good option to do. I'd buy these now but I don't plan on doing my motor build until a year from now when my chassis is all fabbed up.

If they are custom made wouldn't it be a good opportunity to pick these up now rather than have to pay a lot more later for custom made ones?

On a side note, I am glad that they are using the same engines for the nissans with the VQ35 line up. THe choice to build a maxima engine is so much easier now. I've seen Eagle Rods, Arias Pistons, and ARP Rod bolts on ebay for $1100. Seems like these rods in this thread were probably around that much when they were first introduced.

Because I'm going to boost first. See how a DE-K holds up and then eventually build an according hybrid motor.

Would your eagle rod fit in the VQDEK ( 2k1 ) ? If so I'll buy it from you if still available when my tax return kick in. PM me whenever you get a chance.

Cheers

if rods and piston are available and for a good price have money now. if they have been sold, can some one let me know where to get the rods. i contacted sgp racing already they had the cast supposedly, ordered the rods from them, for alot less then $700. but they called me back a week later telling me that the casting fot the eagle rods was no longer available. please any info will help. But dropping a 3.5 wpould just be better, but then engine management becomes an issue. thanks

Get a 3.5, buy Eagle rods and Wiseco pistons for a grand (ebay), and toss your VQ30 front covers/flywheel on.. you're done..

Not really a hassle.. JWT sells the spacers for 30 or 40 bucks.. after that, it's a bolt-on affair.

If you're worried about the trans.. toss a 6spd in.. I have a CPS/ring gear package that will bolt to a VQ35 JWT or Fidanza flywheel.. meaning, no more mods to make a 6spd work with the VQ30.

well nice, car mad 390 whp yesterday at the dyno. going to use slicks friday, if tranny breaks one more time, i will conact you on the kit to bolt on a 6 speed. but that is very different tranny isnt it?

To put it in a 4th gen.. you will need the following..

JWT/fidanza flywheel/clutch combo
Our bolt on replacement CPS ring
Axles from a VQ35 6spd 5th gen
Shifter cables/shifter from a VQ35 6spd 5th gen
Trans mount/bracket from a VQ35 6spd 5th gen

Travis,

The JWT/Fidanza flywheel/clutch combo, you mean from the 6 speed, right? I have the 6-speed's stock flywheel and clutch, guess that'll be fine. Is it possible to still use the 4th gen flywheel/clutch assembly, probably so with them T/O bearing spacer, right? If that's the case, I get to skip having to buy the CPS ring from you, correct? All I have right now is the 6-speed tranny, flywheel, and clutch all stock. So I couldn't figure out what I'd need internally. Thanks for the help.

The trans mount/bracket from 5.5th gen 6-speed tranny, do they bolt on fine onto the 4th gen chassis? I wasn't aware of this part, kinda want to find out now. I always thought we need to make a mounting bracket or something.

Yeah.. this will utilize the 6spd parts.. I'm not sure how the whole spacer thing works with the 4th gen parts.. I've never tried to do that. I know that it DOES work.. but I'm not familiar with it.

The 6spd doesn't use a trans bracket.. there's a bracket that bolts to the back of the block with 4 bolts, then, attaches to the rear cross member mount.. but nothing attaches to the trans itself. So, there shouldn't be any issue there.. unless the older 5spd is attached to the 4th gen rear mount. In that case.. you would have to make an adapter.. or try to use a 5th/6th gen rear engine mount.
