Quaife group deal!

I have a friend that just blew up his diff and now he wants to buy a quaife, however as many of you know they don't make them any more. So he called quaife and they said that they have only sold 35 total of them and if he wanted one made it would be 5000.00 but if he could get 15 people to buy then the price would be about 1000.00 apiece. So I figured here and the group deal forum would be a good place to post this.

Who did your friend speak with at Quaife? On the UK website, the Nissan Maxima still shows up in the currenty product on-hand

This is the return email from Quaife USA:
"Hello,
I am checking stock and will have an answer by tomorrow, at which time I will send you another e-mail with our response, and (hopefully) delivery time.
Sincerely.
Rafael Santiago.
Quaife America."

For a $1000, I'd buy one. But realisticly, I don't think this deal of 15 will happen.

i guess your talking about me since i'm the only person who said they'd take two or three...

so there goes another two units possibly. we're so close but the rest of you that said you'd take one need to confirm, otherwise we are starting over with this. the reason i'm pushing for this so much is because i was only $2k away from purchasing just 1 differential for myself @ $5k. now that i know about this group deal it's seems like a waste to spend $5k and get one than to spend less and get at least a couple.

Moderators, can you guys create a link to this in the group buy forums, or just move this entire thread all together??? i believe this would get twice as much attention there.

8-10 units claimed

i'll be sending pm's by the end of the day to those on this list that previously stated on this thread that they would be interested in making a purchase to confirm these numbers. if you see an error, make the necessary corrections.

Still in.

It's been 6 months since this thread was started. I think someone needs to call Quaife and confirm that this deal still has potential and doesn't have a deadline.

Agreed that this should be in the group deal forum as well.

It seems a while back that cattman said the minimum order was 35 units from quaife. I would like to have one too, but will not pay $2k for one.

Do they fit in all tranny cases, or only non-lsd cases?

Spoke to a fella awhile back through email. He said he would check up on it for me and give me a call. I believe his name is Jose, although I forgot. After that he went MIA with emails. After that I could never get him on the phone and no one could give me a straight answer.

I called quaife today and spoke to a "Harlei".He informed me that quaife usually produces these in batches and since this was such a slow moving item they haven't had incentive to produce another batch. He mentioned to me that if I were able to get a list together of people who are CONFIRMED buyers who would be willing to place a DOWN PAYMENT this would speed the process along since they would have an incentive.

He also recommended that I post his E-mail if people are interested e-mail him directly and once there is enough interest they will try to have an order placed.

Cool. Thanks for calling. Did Claudio actually say we need 10-15 buyers? If so, 10 buyers is definately doable I think.

Well Claudio said one thing but he told me that Harlei is the Quaife rep so it was better to talk to him.harlei didn't wanna commit to #'s so I strongly suggest calling him or e-mailing so that way he can get a tally of interest.

if this doesn't work out, Brian at Cattman gave me some useful info.

-the exchange rates from USD to British Pound have gotten worse since the time that the original batch of 35 were produced by Quaife so more than likely prices will be similar to if not worse than what they where when these things were available assuming we order them directly.

-Brian @ Cattman has done "some" looking into doing a group deal for a custom diff through Kaaz and Cusco and that would be a good alternative assuming Quaife is too expensive or just can't do it. There's no for sures on price but i don't think the price will be more than $1,500. the only kicker for this deal is that we'd have to front the cash before production could begin. i'm willing to do that but i'm also willing to do almost anything for an aftermarket diff (not at all interested in a used vlsd).

just a couple things to think about...

If we need to pay in advance for this, I will, if it will for sure be made...

I'm up for putting a down payment if Cattman comes through with a Kaaz or Cusco lsd. I'd be interested to see how much the Quaife will come out to

just to be clear, my understanding was full payment up front, not a down payment.

Vitek isn't for sale, as I have 2 boosted maxi's, and a friend with one as well, so really, I need two more lsd's... I am interested in any LSD as long as it isn't the phantom, but I would for sure love to get this quaife, or even if cattman comes through with something, that would be good as well.

I would only do this if I could leave my down payment with Cattman. We've seen what happen previously with the D2 coilover deal. Too many crooks out there and I would hate to get my lawyer involved in a LSD thing, he might think its drugs.

I'm not giving anyone else my $$$ but Cattman, unless I see a finished product.

I see your point but I would recommend doing this since the Quaife is a proven unit which has already been installed in many cars. While Kaaz and Cusco are excellent companies they probally have no experience with the Maxima and it may not even be worth while for them to get involved.

At this point I dont think the Quaife NA rep is looking for money. He is just looking for interest. An e-mail to him can't hurt and wouldn't cost anything. Quaife will make this if there is enough demand.

If anyone is interested in calling the # over there is 1-949-240-4000. The Guy from Quaife who I spoke to was "halei".
