Question for all you turbo guys...
Since the 300ZX has a compression ratio of 8.3:1, would it be possible to put those pistons into my '00 VQ30? I wanna boost very soon, and I wanna do internal work, but parts as I seem to find are limited. I rather be below a 10.0:1 compression ratio if I want to run boost, and all of a sudden the 300ZX just popped into my brain.
If it is possible, what else would be involved to have the motor built to be able to handle a decent amount of boost? And where could you purchase these parts at? I seem to be mentally challenged when it come to searching for parts.
Thanks,
-Dominic

Just boost the stock engine.. theres people with around 500 hp on the stock block. so unless your planning on making more than that.. youve got nothing to worry about. And, no i dont belive those pistions will fit in the VQ, but i dont know for sure.
Poorly tuned ... you can blow them up under with under 300 Hp...
Properly tuned.. (bit overly rich...) you can put over 500 to the wheels.. Most i can think of is around 535 or somthing like that.. in a max at least.
the Vq35 is going to make more power per boost.. but i cant imagine that one could be all that much tougher than the next.. correct me if im wrong guys.
