j&s safe guard issues

hi

I am having a couple issues with my j&s safeguard.
its installed in my 99 maxima supergharged.

1. i am gettin a check engine light for ignition circuit fault (0201)
wiring all looks good but im gonna have to go in again either tonight or tomorrow to get a closer look at the wiring.

2. my knock sensor gauge is completly dead.

just wanted to see if anyone ever experienced problems like this with j&s. the unit was purchased used of another member on these forums.

thanks frank

Hi Frank,

The early ones needed a few resistors to feed the proper signal back to the ECM so it wouldn't kick out that 0201 code. The new ones should be fixed, though.

I think he does this out of his house and has no voicemail. Just keep trying, it may be worth your while. It paid off for me.

For the 0201 code... the fix is 3 resistors but I don't remember the values needed... The code is just annoying and won't harm the engine. I hope John will get back to you... Wait on his email reply.

I'm gonna be ordering that adapter module. I installed the unit last week but the wiring looked so messy and it tripped a 0201 code too when I firts started it up. The second time, the CEL didnt come on but it seem like it was missing. My rpms were in the mid 500s to 600s, the red LED was either solid red or blinking super fast, I couldnt tell. When I reved it, it didnt rev as smoothly as stock either so I pulled the weather packs out and revert back to stock until I send a check for the module, I'm hoping this should clean up the wiring and make it run better.

Did your LED stay on when your car is running? From the instructions I thought its suppose to blink at start up and turn off until there is knocking or timing retard but mine stayed on no matter if it was idling or reving. Any insight?

off when driving and it would blink when i started to detonate everything worked right except stupid check engine light and i. on secound thouhgt the revs were about 100 rpm off my norm. so i don' tknow.

So when you first start it, it would blink then goes off and it wouldnt come back on until you're driving and it detonates?

well the light blinks at first then stays solid. when i drive the light turn off until it starts pulling timing. i think IIRC that the light stay solid at idle.
