Mevi tick tick tick?????

I took my blower off today to fix an oil leak thats been killing me right on the timing chain cover and just have to do something about it. Well I put the stock belt back on and started up..........i let it run for a couple min then rev'it up and noticed a weird ticking coming right on top of the mevi GREAT!! at idle the car sounds normal, really quiet but when i rev it up a little the ticking sounds comes and goes away as the rpm's drop. I dont think this is normal. I dont know how long its been there because with the sound of the blower u cant tell anything. Let me know if anyone has an idea what this could be?

Thanks
Albert

First pop the cover off and see if all the screws are there and in tacked. Possibly could have lost a screw down into the engine, then your F*cked.

or two, it could possibly by the butterfly valves vibrating with the engine and making the noise. Mine used to be loud until you touch the rod and it quited up. I would def check the screws RIGHT AWAY

^^^ sounds just like mine. If I pull the actuator ever so slightly the tick goes away. I think its the pulses of air hitting the butterflies. I probably should check under there any how.

I don't even have a mevi on my engine and yet I hear a tick, tick, tick around the throttle body as well. This is happening, even with my supercharger being offline. Must be the butterfly valves.

well the evap volume control clicks too, its the large black (97+) or metal/brown (95/96) device on the IM. Its got 2 rubber hoses on it and a large 6 or 8 pin plug.

Yes, you can check them but a simple test to do is slide the bar that holds the butterfly side by side. you will hear it change. Its just the fact its rubbing against the port. I been having this problem since day 1 and I used lock tight RED.

I took the cover of the mevi off and everything looks to be in its place. So WTF?? After i had put it together I went ahead and turned the car on and actually put my ear on top of the mevi and heard that the butterflyes are the ones that make the ticking noice when the engine is rev a little. Is this something normal?

Like I said, mine does it too. It seems to do it until you physicly move the actuator rod slightly. It kinda sounds like the injectors actually.

Thank you!!! I did exactly the same thing. I physicly moved the actuator and rod slightly with my finger and rev'd it and sound went away. HHmm weird mevi sound effects.

Thanks carson, Gonna get to work on the other issue of the leak. Other guys here have the same sound on top of the mevi so i guess its normal.

Glad you got the problem fixed, I thought it was normal. I hear a ticking near the IM also, can someone point me out to this actuator rod? Thanks.

i had the closest call with my mevi a while back. One screw actually came out and it was sitting in the actually mevi and never fell down the hole of doom. it definitely was a clooooose call.
