whats th best blowoff valve to use with a s/c

when i bought the kit it came with a blitz SS bov but it seems pretty ****ty and doesnt blowoff.. when i rev the engine the air just backs up through the supercharger .. i dont know if the BOV is defective or theres a btter one? and its adjusted to the minimum spring setting

JDM (metal) EVO MR bypass valve worked well for me.

From previous threads that I read, either the Vortech Mondo Blowoff valve or the Tail 50mm B.O.V.. This is based on the thought that they will have the least compressor surge.

I like the Vortech units. They move a sufficiant amount of air. I used to have a greddy style and the bottom line is they just arent big enough.

Invest some money in a Vortech Race or Vortech Mondo unit and you wont be dissapointed.

just get the vortech race. I tried a lot of bov and the vortech has no surge and works the best.
I had the greddy type S and it would surge really bad. Then I tried the Greddy RS less surge but still didn't open when i was at low boost, tried it on a friends car and it didn't fully open up till about 10 psi with the spring at the lowest setting. Then i got a turbo xs, it opened all the time surged a little before it opened. Lastly i just got the vortech race it has no surge so far and i don't have to make any adjustments. I am however considering to recirculate the valve because the sound of air coming out of it sounds like an airplane which can get annoying.

HKSSQBOV or Tial simply the 2best BOVs and you wont have leaks, like the blitz

i will prbly go with the hksssqv because i like the sound which is the main thing and i also heard its doesnt have much of a surge problem.. i used to own a mx6 turbo and had the turboixs but it took 13psi+ to open up properly..i heard hks is a little more sensetive..

Why is everyone suggesting the SSQV? They are designed for turbo applications because the valve does not allow any air to escape at idle. That's great for turbo setups because the turbo isn't spinning and the air in intake piping is not pressurized so you want a closed system. The SCer at idle pushes quite a bit of air which should be released out of the charge piping.

Love the SSQV on my TT Supra. Bought one for the Max and sold it within 1 week.
You like compressor surge and driveability issues....then get the SSQV. Search for SSQV and Wizard to read more about it. SSQV=bad choice.

And for the record, it hardly blows off and makes any sound on a SC'd Max anyway. On a turbo application, it blows off nicely.

SC and Turbo are apples and oranges.

LMAO, I have the SSQV on my car and I have had it for about a year now. And how I feel about it??

I friggin HATE IT! LOL. It actually does sound great at times, that high pitch chirp is beautiful, but the compressor surge is horrible. It truly does sound like a loud *** airplane when you're in 1st, 2nd gear. The entire gears sound like air having nowhere to go, and the car just doesn't drive smoothly at all. You need a BOV that vents air at idle. Yeah the Blitz SOUNDS corny, but I miss that damn thing. I'd rather a big goofy woosh than the discomfort of the HKS at cruising speeds.

they look at you when you blow past them with a 4 ft flame coming out your exhaust.

btw i also figured out the problem.. i took out the blitz blowoff valve the kit came with and it was frozen shut! i couldnt manage to unfreeze it.. i used penetrating oil etc but i had to use a hammer to even move the valve! and its still not freed up.. only was to move it was with the hammer...

HKS also makes a bypass valve but they are spendy.

So...you really might want to consider the EVO MR bypass valve. The JDM version metal valve moves A LOT of air. Inexpensive too, 100 bucks brand new OEM Mitsubishi.

^^ How do they sound? Any good? Don't get me wrong, i'm not selecting a BOV based on sound, but if there are several GOOD BOVs, i'd like the one that sounds the nicest IMO of those GOOD BOVs. Mondo, tial, or mitsu, of these, which sounds best?

It sounds like air. Lots of air. Bypass valves aren't made to blow off into the atmosphere so they don't have a horn to project the sound outward.

also wondering.. has anyone tried the turboxs type h rfl yet? ive had one on my mx6 turbo and i remember having troubles with it venting at idle.. also the opening is really big so it should vent a good amount of air.. any thought on it?

tired the rfl. It would surge before it blew off, plus the valve would never fully shut making it whistle or sound like a vacuum cleaner. Just get the vortech or get whatever bov you want and deal with the surge problems.
