throttle response.

I'm planning on adding a turbo setup and was just curious as to what the drawbacks are of having a turbo, especially what I have heard as bad throttle response. THanks

Drawbacks... no traction

Throttle response isn't exactly bad but if you go with an oversized turbo low end power will suffer, which will seem like bad throttle response.

Low end power won't "suffer" and you won't have worse than stock throttle response. You just won't get boost as early if you go with a larger setup. It'll be just like stock (probably more like a bolt on max actually) until the boost starts to come in, then things get fun. My turbo car is lots faster off boost than my stock max is.

Reading stuff like this makes me wish I had just turboed the damn car instead of selling it
I know turbo "lag" is nowhere near as bad as people have made it out to be (depending on the setup) because whenever you hear "lag" you always picture a crappy automatic transmission taking 2 full seconds to realize that your foot is in contact with the floor.

When your adding FI to a factory high compression NA car (maxima)turbo "lag" is not the same thing as when your adding a bigger turbo to a factory FI low compression motor (WRX). lag does become a real driveability issue with a low comprssion factory turbo motor. There is hardly any low rpm power with these cars when going to a big turbo. With a maxima off boost power will hardly be effected when turbo.

Take in all of what they said and then go buy some books. You'll want to read them if you are going FI. Neal suggested Street Turbocharging a while ago. Excellent read. Goes into the perfect amount of depth for the novice boosthead. Then we all know the Corky books.
