dumb question..

ok, i have a 2000 max 5speed, i recently decided that i wanted to add a turbo. i have read numerous threads about what all you need to add a turbo... im wanting to probably get a t3/t4 turbo, but on every web site i read, all they have is a setup for a t25.. and they specifically say that a t3/t4 wont fit on the manifold...... the threads i have read(and i have tried the search, no help) dont say anything about the manifold.... help please.....(sorry im a newb)

Their are no turbo manifolds for the vq30! You have to do a feed pipe set up

The remote turbo seems pretty easy to do on these cars, but if don't want to run that setup, and don't want a t25 (I don't blame you I think they are crappy and too small for a 3.0 liter), you can get a metal flange for any turbo you want, grind the tube part of the headers off leaving only the metal flange that connects to the head, go to any decent welding shop and tell them to connect the two pieces using the proper grade and thickness tubing to as close to equal length piping as possible. Then you have equal length manifold to fit any turbo, for not as much as you would think if you are up to the task.

Here is the rear mounted one http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=506063

As far as the one I was describing you can call me on the number I am sending you in a PM if you want (bc I don't know that I did a good job escribing it), or you could buy the piping from a place like this http://www.dynomagic.com/index.html or whoever else and still use whatever turbo flange you want to even if the don't have it, by cutting off whatever flange it comes with and have the one you want welded on in its place.

hello... someone tell me if im thinkin right! I need to get a y pipe, take it and have it cut and "feed" it to the turbo(hint a feed-pipe). if this is wrong please tell me!!!! because im not sure about what brs2c was talking about, grinding anything off of the headers, that sounds toooo risky!

OK forget that I mentioned trying to build your own custom equal length manifolds, or feed tube...Your problem, as I understand it is that you would like to run a different turbo than what is available in the feed pipes, and turbo kits that are out there...The main thing that makes an exhaust manifold for one turbo and not another is the style of flange connects the turbo to the manifold http://www.tialsport.com/prod_fl_ti.htm

At any GOOD welding or exhaust shop they can remove the flange that a kit comes with, and weld whatever style flange you want in its place... they can even weld a few support rods to from the manifold to the new flange if you are ever needing to run a huge and heavy turbo

That is a VERY nice diagram! Has anyone tried to take run some after market headers (without the y pipe) and then build the feeder tube around those?
