Does any one know of any good place that I could get my 5speed tranny built? I seen where neal had his done but they did not seem to think to that you would still have to shift to 3rd easy.

you could try something like this http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=189124

Looks similar to a maxima tranny inside.

Why not a 6speed? Should be good for a bit more WHP stock correct?

Tranny mount, throwout bearing spacer, and some minor custom work to run shifter cables instead of the rods. That's about it, IIRC....

i think there will be a CEL on if you do that swap. i know that tilley did that swap on his car and he said that the stock 6spd clutch can hold some power.

Tilley's mid-11s runs were on a stock 6spd clutch. It was slipping by the end, but hey....

Why? The 5.5 gen flywheel is a LOT heavier...

IM getting a lighten flywheel. That way I can get the better clutch too. there are not many 4gen clutch that hold up to 500whp.

Ah. Good thinking.

If you're looking for something that will hold power, maybe you can use a 350Z clutch? I think SR20DEN knows a thing or two about how to make that work...

FWD 6-speed and Z33 clutches are interchangeable.

Don't you need a TOB spacer?

If you're using a FWD or RWD 3.5 clutch you're using a FWD or RWD 3.5 flywheel, which means you don't need a spacer.

Have you thought about heat treating or cryo treating the tranny parts?
That's the only way I could think to makes the parts stronger.

But probably very costly.

Its not as much as you think. But it will help very little. I talk with over 15 performance tranny shops last week and they told me the gear in the maxima 5 speed are just to dinky to do anything with and with trying to push 350 to 450hp through one it would fail time after time even with heat treatment. their just to flimsy and brittle
